Any chance of a 2.35 DVD release?

Does anyone know about the original version of this film? The Monthly Film Bulletin listed it as 99 mins. before BBFC cuts, probably the Gypsy burning alive or McDowell hacking off Lonsdales fingers onscreen.

Great movie!! it was actually edited down for a AA/15 cert after its disasterous cinema release here in the UK,the original X/18 cert version ran for an extra 3 minutes hence the original running time of 101 mins.

I think the ending was changed to remove the violent dream sequence and the torture/rape/gypsy burning all either omited or toned down.

This movie cries out for a proper 2.35 dvd release, come on MGM pull your finger out!!

It's a bootleg from VHS and has I believe been withdrawn.

It's on the TCM Nordic schedule. It was shown last week and is being shown again on the 29th. It would be interesting to know if it is uncut and 2.35:1. Is there anyone on here who has access to TCM Nordic?

I have got TCM Nordic - I actually recorded quite a lot of nice stuff from there:

Captain Nemo and the Underwater City (James Hill, 1969)
    Vampira (Clive Donner, 1974)
    The Prize (Mark Robson, 1963)
    The Executioner (Sam Wanamaker, 1970)
Where the Spies Are (Val Guest, 1965)
The Last Run (Richard Fleischer, 1971)

I can let you know about The Passage...

OK I recorded it this morning, it's 2.35:1 and very nice, 97 minutes including mgm intro and end titles.

    What's supposed to be missing?

Oh, I want to see it in that way too!

I guess the finger-chopping often is cut.

At 97 minutes its probably complete, does it include the nasty rape scene with Kay Lenz?

To all of you who have contacted me regarding a copy of the film, I will get back to you shortly.

I have now transfered it to my PC and made it 16:9... picture quality is a bit soft but I hope you find it satisfying.
