Thumbs up First film you ever watched on video.

Dont know if this has been done before but what the hell, its good to look back on the bad old days with fond memories. what was your first video that you watched and how did it affect you with your video viewing in the future. I'll start the ball rolling with mine which was zombie flesh eaters followed by carrie. I was 10 years of age at the time and after that I tried to track down as many zombie films as possible. Imagine my surprise a couple of months later when viewing zfe at my cousins house and finding gut munching , eyeball splintering, brain bashing, etc, which was unseen in the one i watched. Of course the version I watched was the cinema version [which was bad enough at the tender age of ten.] Having a brother 16 years older than me did help in renting all those weird movies from childhood. Right someone elses turn for the therapists chair!

My first viewings of rented films was at the tender age of about 12 or 13 and consisted of Carrie and The Exorcist. There was absolutely no turning back from that point onwards - and what a double-bill that was! I was mesmerised and truly fell in love with horror cinema. The day after I watched Dawn of the Dead. My life has never been the same since!

Funnily enough, dawn of the dead was also the next movie I watched after my double bill. Rented from d.e.r. I believe when we got our first video. I actually had nightmares after viewing dawn of the dead that my school was full of zombies trying to eat me! looking around now I think that nightmare has come true. Another funny thing: my parents were quite happy for me to rent horrors but one day when I went to rent CANDID CAMERA CLASSICS my mum was a bit wary about letting me rent it and asked the girl in the shop if there was any sex in it and would it be suitable for me to watch!! GO FIGURE!!!!!!!

I don't recall the actual first one. Back when I was a kid my father had an 8mm projector, and he would rent these 10 to 15 minute condensed versions of classic horrors (talk about edited for the home!) and they must rank up there - that was before VHS and Beta.

Once I could rent it was horror movies, and I caught most of the video nasties before I knew they were bad for me, and that I was ruining society. Back then cannibals and necros used to walk the streets, clearly inspired by Fulci and the like. It was frightening. Fortunately the world was saved by a ratings sticker.

The year was 1982, I was 12 and my family had just bought a new VHS VCR. My Mum and I went straight down to the Co-Op, who'd just opened a video rental club, and we got out Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Those were the days!
