    The Breakfast Club

Apart from the fact that this film is 18 years old this year!!! (See seperate thread to make you feel older!!)....

has any1 actually seen the vampire scene from this film!?

There's a pic on the back of the old rental versions and I know of 2 people who say they've seen this scene (my girlfriend & an old work collegue another) but it's like seing ghost...

until I see it I don't believe it (& if any1 brings up JAWS or THE FLY I stick by my word!!!).

Apparently it has been shown on BBC2.

I always thought that it was just a publicity still myself, nothing more.

Great film though, one that caught me at the right time and I've loved it ever since.

Yeah kinda thort that myself...but we can always live in hope!!

This would make an excellent Sp.Ed. don't you think!?

Unfortunately Paramount, as we all know, are crap so there's no hope in that...but Audio Comms with all the cast (all 6 of them!!) a new retrospective doc. John Hughes comm & THAT deleted scene!! hahahaha!!!

"DOES BARRY MANILOW KNOW YOU RAIDED HIS WARDROBE!"

Man, that just makes me wanna watch it again. If it comes out on disc (and surely it must, one day) then I'm definitely buying it. It had a classic 80's teen movie feel to it - anyway Griz, I thought you were a little too young for that kinda stuff. Maybe Crossroads is more your thing?

Whatever happened to Benny & Miss Diane!!???

I watched B.C. last night (hense the thread) & it still makes me laugh even now.

i lent it too a work collegue years ago and he found it boring! I guess you needed to have grown up (well as grown up as we all are!!!) with this film.

Crossroads indeed!! CROSSWORLDS MAYBE!!! or even the GRISWOLDS!!

NURSE, I think my medication is running out!!!

Actually Griz I was referring to the Britney vehicle, but you can take it any way you like mate.

If they'd have repeated Britney's bra-wandering antics over and over again throughout the 90minute duration I'd have probably bought the damn thing actually.

Anyway, back to BC, yes I've seen a couple of duff reviews over the years but I suppose it applies to almost anything really.

(P.S. I've noticed the Knightmare crew are back - I thought we'd seen the last of them)

    Britney vs Benny's Crossroads

I 1st thought of the Ralph Machio film ("Wipe on. Wipe Off"), but that was f##kin' funny!!!

& exactly how old do you think I am anywho!?

    Nurse, more wine please!!

Why not import the Region 1 DVD of The Breakfast Club?? Probably the best version we'll ever see - beats seeing it censored on TV.

    Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Guess you all know that the original theatrical poster artwork for Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 parodied that of The Breakfast Club?

Because i fed up with buying films that have fukcool (see that...the art of swearing wothout swearing!!!) on them.

I got Better off Dead only because my vid was shagged after all the years of constant watching. My BC is still watchable & i refuse to pander to Paramount & they're film only discs!!

This film deserves to have a Sp.Ed!!

Without it (& the other JH films, but mainly this) we wouldn't have had American Pie et al...!!!

Paramount should pull their finger (which is far from the pulse!) out of their corperate arses and catch up with some of the other major league disc distributors.

In case any of this gets edited for legal reasons (which I understand) I just had a rant about a certain distributor & their bare-bones discs!!

    Rant over. Time for medication!!

Just to contradict slightly though, and in order to fuel further debate, I might argue that a bare bones disc at a reasonable price (albeit with anamorphic widescreen transfer where necessary, and DD surround) with the now-taken-for-granted inherent benefits of the DVD medium, is sometimes a decent option to upgrade from some old fullscreen hi-fi VHS tape.

I like Singles (yes, I know, what a wussie) but I might consider buying the new relatively bare-bones disc just to upgrade from my old (but fairly good-for-VHS) tape given the acceptable price of the new release.

Remember there are other benefits to a DVDisc which most of us seem to have forgotten about. I'll give you five if you like.

Yeah I will agree on that point(s) with you Paul.

if a film is reasonably priced then the upgrade is worth it, but it still pisses me off when companies "seem" to not be bothered.

BETTER OFF DEAD was crying out for a Sp.Ed.

Yeh, and there are some worse than others.

Anyway, I bought Serpent and the Rainbow to upgrade from a cassette. It only has 16x9 widescreen and a Dolby Surround soundtrack but I saw it for £7.99 and got it. You can't moan at those kind of prices can you.

In addition though, you are right about Breakfast - would be nice to have a spec.ed.

Just about every film I want to own on DVD deserves a special edition, most don't but I still buy the DVD... no matter what condition my tape may be in.

Although I'm glad to see some 80s movies given the Spec Ed (or at least come with some features) treatment:

    Say Anything
    The Beastmaster
    The Hidden
