    witchfinder on richard and judy

....and of course judy called it an 'old Hammer film'.

something pleasing about seeing vincent price ducking witches on daytime tabloid crap though.

What was the context? Or did they just show a torture clip and claim it was from Iraq?

It was great to hear that Hopkins was actually in his *20's*! Price was just a wee bit older I think!!
Of course the film is almost all fiction (in fact John Sterne who gets his eye put out, and we suppose dies, lived on for many years after and took over from Hopkins), but damn, it's one hell of a classic!

The Witch was treated with respect actually which was nice (though she did have strange eyes!), but it was more fluff than substance.
And not enough distance was put between the idiotic Puritan idea of Witches worshipping Satan (which is of course bull**** as The Devil is purely a Christian creation and if you don't beleive in God you don't believe iin The Devil) and the fact that Witches actually worship 'Gods and Goddesses' VASTLY older than anything the Christians conjured up, and are in fact not linked at all.

I did like the fact the Witch made that White Witches were actually used sometimes to FIND the 'real' purveyors of blight and curses! Something you just never thought of really.

Not a bad thing to see on such a program though.

    You mean Grotbags?

This must be the umpteenth time I've heard Price referred to as a Hammer star - Total Film do it all the time. Honestly, do your research! Now if they said AIP star I'd chear!

When Price died he was called a star of Hammer films in certain tabloids. Tsk Tsk.
And to think they pay these idiots to do that.

I saw Vincent interviewed by (I think) Mavis Nicholson on TV in the mid 70s. What was that programme? Good Afternoon or something. I was off school poorly and there he was with Coral Browne. He talked about theatre and cooking mainly, barely touched on his film work as I remember. I was a bit disappointed at the time and my Mum said 'You thought he was going to talk about his horror films didn't you?'
