    More Jess Franco Titles

    Diabolical Dr. Z
    Venus In Furs
    Count Dracula

Plus, any chance of Pedro Portabella's Vampir, which is filmed at least partly on the set of Franco's Dracula
"It was Beauty Killed The Beast."

    99 women from Jef Films

Some time ago, it was foreseen that BLUE UNDERGROUND (US)would release
Venus in Furs and 99 women, from the good ole uncle Jess.
99 women was even announced on amazon.com for Nov.
After a while, the DVD was announced as unavailable.
Now I just saw a relaease of 99 women from JEF Films ,also in the US.

Does somebody know what's happening there? Blue Underground has always released valuable DVD's .....but this JEF Films is unknown to me....

Do you know if it's worth buying this DVD now, or better wait for BU issue?????

The BU discs will be out in the new year. Don't even consider the Jef Films release.

    99 women

[QUOTE=Marc Morris]The BU discs will be out in the new year. QUOTE]

I just saw somewhere (partly on DVD aficionado) that 2 discs of 99 women from BU will be out in Feb 2005:
-one will be the director's cut?
    - the other will be a (sic) X-rated French Edition, with 8 minutes of "intense" moments, but not filmed by uncle Jess (what's the interest then?)?this disc will even be more expensive.

If it's true, It's too much for my wallet, I give up......

Is there somebody (in the secret of Gods) who could clarify, confirm or infirm this?
    Thanks

    you might try:
    - "the awful dr Orloff" (image), "the diabolical doctor Z" (mondo macabro)," love letters from a portugese nun"(the swiss VIP relase, NOT the cut Anchor Bay release, sorry for this one) ,"the sadistical baron Von Klaus" (image)
the discs and the movies of theses releases are really outstanding

-or wait for the very good : "99 women "and "venus in Furs" (to be released by Blue Underground in February)

It's probably very predictable to say but for me Vampyros Lesbos and She Killed in Ecstasy were very good intoductions to Franco. I don't think the UK editions of these titles have been bettered either

my ultimate meaning is that the best way to approach Franco is really in the chronological order of the movies: this is a good way to avoid such epidermic reactions like "it's total crap" or "the plots do not make sense" or "the acting is bad"or "there are too many zooms". Franco 'cinema is venenous, you need some kind of mithridisation against it and that can be reached by watching the earlier movies of the 60's. I've seen recently "99 women" and "venus in furs" in very crappy versions but the movies itselfves are of the best vintages....that's why I can't wait for the Blue Underground Discs.

I guess I wasn't looking for "plots that make sense" (in the usual sense) when I starting watching Franco And I quite like some of his "zoom" work! To be honest, I'm not sure about the chronological approach, I struggled with The Awful Dr Orlof and have never managed to watch it properly.

I've not seen Venus in Furs or 99 Women so I am looking forward to them.
