    dawn of the dead

im realy loking forward to anchor bays edition of dawn of the dead but to me it looks a little like my danish version.

    disc one
george romeros directers cut with everything the exploding head and the children all included. 139 minutes
    picture galleri
    bios

    disc two
    dario argentos european directors cut
    document of the dead
trailers ( including some funky german ones )

    plus a booklet

the only thing wrong with this release is the movie itself mono sound and a lousy remastering of the picture but if you cant wait for the region 1 this is the version i recomend ( even without the commentary track from the english edition)

Someone told me the triple version DAWN is penciled in for August 2003 on Region 1, with DAY OF THE DEAD due April.

Officially there's no release date other than Summer 2003 for both.

I'm sure you're right. A friend got the info off a web site (think he said xtreme cinema, have to check with him). He did quote April 29th for DAY and early August for DAWN. I'll check back with him.

    Question

The question I have for Marc would be this:

Will ABUK be graced with the option to release the same 3 DVD set as the ABUS?

I've borrowed the Nordic 2 DVD edition several times, and with the exception of the film's lack of cleanup, it's wonderful all the same. But the 3 DVD set would be great, as they obviously have done all the remastering to the best that the current technology can offer. PLUS audio commentary.

I know some of the effects are still hokey and bland, but this film grabs ahold and doesn't let go.

    Oh, one other question remains;

Will the Dario Cut be widescreen or Full Frame?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best Regards,

    AshFalling

Ash, the rights to Dawn in the UK are owned by BMG so AB UK can’t do anything even if they wanted to.

AB US haven’t revealed what’s on their 3 disc set yet, so you’ll have to wait.

There's a 2 disc french release shortly (see dvdzone2.com). It is anamorphic and has 5.1. I'm still holding out for the 3 disc version next year but this may be of interest now to others (it may be the Argento cut)

Just checked again - run time is 115 minutes which means it should be the Argento cut. Also has Doc of the Dead and a further special effects doc. As it's french it probably has french subtitles that cannot be removed.

I got my Combat Shock from here. It cost about £5 in total but has no extras on it. Anyone wanting to see this but not wanting to pay a lot I would fully recomend picking this version up (dutch subtitles are burnt in though).
