    Cinque Giornate

You haven't heard much about it because it isn't widely available, never got a release outside of Italy I think. Either nobody is interested in releasing it anywhere, or the rights are an issue. I have it on DVD-R (the only non-official DVD I have ever paid for) with English subs, I think it was/is available unsubbed on video in Europe.

Anyway, the film is a period piece (Argento's first, before Phantom of the Opera) and concerns itself with revolutionary politics and comedy as opposed to suspense and gore. There are some trademark Argento camera shots and sequences and its not bloodless (there is a massacre - but no black-gloved killer) but in all honesty the film is unlikely to be of interest to anyone except completists. It's no Fistful of Dynamite, that's for sure, but its not a disaster either.

The music is by Giorgio Gaslini (who did Argento's Door Into Darkness TV series) and not Morricone or Goblin, so that kind of sets it apart again.

I would buy it again if a suitably remastered version was released but the only way I see it coming out is if Dragonfilm in Germany pick it up - they seem to be the only company around dedicated to getting out as much Argento as exists.
