    Code Red's Maria's B-Movie Mayhem!!!

News taken from Code Red's own official Blog

CODE RED is proud to announce that a TV superstar will be the hostess for our new exclusive horror line! Former WWE superstar, 2009 Diva of the Year, Celebrity Apprentice contestant, Singing sensation, and April 2008 Playboy cover girl MARIA KANELLIS is back for more! Maria will host Code Red's MARIA'S B MOVIE MAYHEM, and the first round of her horror/exploitation DVD releases will street in September! Maria will bring you the gory horror cult classic MARDI GRAS MASSACRE, the Native American horror flick HAUNTED with Aldo Ray, and Double-bills of SCREAM / BARN OF THE NAKED DEAD and LOVE ME DEADLY / CURIOUS CASE OF THE CAMPUS CORPSE. Then, on 9 more releases, Maria will host many other exploitation films including NIGHT OF THE DEMON, VAMPIRE AT MIDNIGHT, CAGED MEN, VOODOO DOLLS/MADONNA: CASE OF BLOOD AMBITION, RIOT ON 42ND STREET/BAD GIRLS DORMITORY, TEENAGE HITCHHIKERS/TEENAGE TRAMP, and more! All will feature Maria introducing the film, and appearing again after the film is over. The films will all be uninterrupted and uncut. Some of the DVDs will feature extras, as well.

Maria is a great gal and she had a lot of fun hosting this upcoming DVD series. Many wrestling fans are also horror fans so hopefully this can turn many wrestling fans onto CODE RED product. Having one of the most popular former WWE divas hosting our films is truly an honor.
    Cover art...

I must admit it seems a bit convenient that Code Red announce this line to more or less coincide with Scorpion's much anticipated Katarina' Nightmare Theater line hosted by Katarina Waters of WWE/TNA/FWA fame, but nevertheless I'm personally thrilled to see Mardi Gras Massacre, Night Of The Demon (fingers crossed regarding the quality of that one) and Haunted on the horizon. I'm sure the double-bill's will also please those who missed out on the Shriek Show/Code Red disc's of those particular titles the first time around.

It's shaping up to be a fine autumn for us cult movie fans.

    Very convenient-still cannot complain.
Let the battle of the wrestler horror hosts begin-figuratively speaking of course.

Nice to hear a little more about Code Red's forthcoming releases for Night of the Demon and Mardi Gras Massacre. Looking forward to these.

I know it's the films that are important and I genuinely don't care about cover art, but I have to mention it: those are fucking awful covers

The cover for Night Of The Demon looks like something a more enterprising bootlegger might knock up in five minutes on Paint Shop Pro 9, but to me the others are simply the original poster/video art with Maria in the bottom corner and are completely inoffensive. But that's just my opinion.

As you point out Claire, it's the quality of the content which really counts.

Code Red are really spoiling us this year. Kind of forgiven them for making it so tough for me to eventually obtain Rituals. Looking forward to Night of the Demon.

They are indeed spoiling us and hopefully these release's, combined with the long awaited and upcoming Nightmares In A Damaged Brain (or just Nightmare if you want to be boring) should start of quell some of the largely baseless negativity towards Code Red taht you see on other forum's.

Excellent review. I remember getting this out on VHS in the 1980s, and I don't think I managed to get all the way through it. I rented out a lot of VHS films in the 1980s (As a teenager) and they're all starting to merge into one now. I recall fast forwarding through a lot of films trying to find the gory bits!
