Well you've trumped me there hamish, i was going to mention NIL BY MOUTH. That scene gets worse every time i see it and the build up to it is agonizing!

If anyone is curious re: Ukraine Hammer Murders then don't watch it if you've the slightest doubt. I know to some folk thats just gonna make 'em wanna see it more but as a mondo/documentary fan myself, i've seen it once and thats enough and i'll watch just about anything. Imagine the tribal castration, impalement and dismemberment in ADDIO ULTIMO UOMO except it's REAL and very drawn out and a lot longer. Regards real life footage...well it's subjective i think. Personally the worse thing i've seen is a Peta video of animals suffering unimaginable pain, being skinned alive.

Moviewise...hmm a good question 20. CASINO: Baseball bat opera at the end always keeps me focused! EMANUELLE IN AMERICA: Snuff clips are brilliantly done, very convincing and guaranteed to offend and upset. Have not seen AUGUST UNDERGROUND, MORDEM or A SERBIAN FILM yet, lol!
Oh THE BELSTONE FOX, the beginning, where we see two poachers (?) or gamekeepers bludgeoning a small set of fox cubs to death. Horrid in that WATERSHIP DOWN/PLAGUE DOGS cold, british, grey 1980's way of erm...thingy.

Theres loads more i know. Movie wise the cannibal bbq at the end of CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, EIA and the above mentioned baseball, bat double murder in CASINO.

Oh Wes, try and track down TITTICUT FOLLIES if you can. Strong stuff (the f*****g staff are the worst) but well worth watching, one very eerie scene in there too.

Thats my two pence worth anyhoo people =)

Guthrie, Couple of things you mentioned, emmanuelle in america snuff scene its as you said very very well done.

But what surprised me most was the fact you mentioned one of my favourite films, the belstone fox.

We where treated to this movie by the school as a christmas outing if i remember rightly all those years ago back in the late 70's and have not long ago picked it up on dvd what a great little film.

Yep THE BELSTONE FOX is a great film indeed. I saw it many years ago and only recalled it since i first started going online. I already had Network's CHARLEY SAYS/LIVE, so the first thing i looked at was the Network site and there it was!

Re: EIA. Just who was this film made for? Nowadays thats easy to answer i suppose but in the mid 70's? Plus it only had a couple of uncut releases i think? Venezuela being one (on video i mean) and Denmark being the other (not sure on the latter, clarification please!).

Maybe not totally horrific but did anyone catch the short film SPIDER on Film4 the other night? I'd love to have this and SOFT, which occasionally has a showing on Film4. Both 'a bit' shocking and satisfying viewing.

Oh, THE BELSTONE FOX...see RING OF BRIGHT WATER for more implied animal shocks! Or was it TARKA: THE OTTER?? Shit! LOL.

Nah, you're right Guthrie, it was Ring of Bright Water... Midge the Otter gets a clubbing at the end of that one. Its a lovely folksy film though... Have scored a copy of Titicut Follies...will let you know how it goes...dreading it a little I must say - my father-in-law is in care....

Wes, After you mentioned titticut follies in an earlier post i thought i would track it down.

I came across a production comapany called Zipporah Films, they have all of brakhages work there, i even asked if i purchased the dvd titticut follies would he sign it for me.

They said he would but was out of the country at the time so could not do it this time.

This will be a must purchase for me soon as i am eager to see it now, do you mind if i ask wes where did you get your copy.

I have just slashed out on I saw the devil 3 disc ltd edition from korea, i hear that has some nice scenes of gore and violence will keep you posted.

Gutherie... I have EIA released through blueunderground, its a american release been around for years now and its fully uncut.
What with pedro the horse and the snuff scenes at the end it makes up for a great stay in movie with a large bucket of popcorn.

Well I think few films horrify me now quite as much than when I was a kid. I don't think anything can beat the sheer terror of seeing The Shining at an early age and just being two scared to move when it had ended. The scene with the rotting granny rising from the bath caused many sleepless nights. And going further back than that, Gena Davies ripping her face off in Beetlejuice made me cry!

Nowadays it's probably the French who upset me the most, what with Martyrs (the stanley knife mutilation and the whole final act!) and A L'Interieur. I found A Serbian Film way too over the top to be genuinely disturbing.

Most horrific scene I've ever seen is the scene in "In The City of life and Death" (About the rape of Nanking) where a Japanese soldier calmly picks up a little girl who is about 5, takes her to the window, and drops her out of the top floor of a building. This is because she is thumping the soldier who is trying to take her Mummy away. The camera then shows the Dad looking out of the window and screaming for what seems like an eternity.

I was watching Joe D'Amato's Absurd last night, and while there's nothing terribly upsetting in it, I thought the scene where George Eastman pushes a girl's head into an oven was strong stuff for this era of Italian exploitation... it was well done too, in terms of make-up, and the actress who really sold it...

Black sun the nanking massacre, thats a while back now released by unearthed films back in can you believe 2004 it only seems like yesterday.
I purchased two when it was released, you know back then i used to say to myself i may as well get two one i will sell the other i will keep and you know what.. yes you guessed it all of those films i purchased twice most are still here.
Did any of you other collectors have the same problem, just letting them go...
Anyway back to the movie black sun, from memory i thought it was quite average and did not impact like the original men behind the sun or laboratory of the devil MBTS 2.
