I watched the Punk Britannia at the BBC programme. Most entertaining, although I can't really understand the inclusion of bands like Dr Feelgood or The Jam, as entertaining as they are.

Well, The Jam definitely found themselves mixed in among the punk groups in the mid-late 70s. 'New Wave' which followed on from punk ended up being a generic term for almost any new group with guitars and a fast beat...
But The Jam were a Mod band? Strange days!
Watch the magic pumpkin!
Dr Feelgood had more right to be in the programme than The Lurkers imo haha.
I have never and will never understand what all the fuss is about PIL. They sound like some art jazz bollox! Thank the gods we had Joy Division!
Watch the magic pumpkin!
Still trying to work out why Cosey Fanni Tutti was on, when TG got no further mention. Still in watched the repeat and loved it even more.
Watched the 26/05/77 episode with Blue, Olivia Newton-John, Frankie Miller, Liverpool Express, Stranglers, Marie Myriam, Brendon, Kenny Rogers, ELO and Rod Stewart while Bryan Ferry's Tokyo Joe was with Legs and Co.
Even had Liverpool FC doing their tune We Can Do it on the end credits after winning the European Cup Final.![]()
Well, at least The Stranglers were on there to save the day!

Episode from 16/06/77 included......
John Miles, Hot Chocolate, Archie Bell and the Drells, the Foster Brothers, Queen, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Olivia Newton-John, the Muppets and Kenny Rogers.
Watch out for David 'Kid' Jensen who makes a big goof on this episode when announcing Hot Chocolate's So,You Win Again.......as OK,You Win.What a dipstick!!
As a long standing music DJ you would think he would know wouldn't you.

John Peel wasn't allowed to host the show for quite a while after forgetting the name of the band he was supposed to be introducing (Amen Corner). When he started presenting the show again, Roger Taylor apparently wanted to deck him after he referred to Queen as 'the Sun City boys'.
Watched this week's episode with a mounting sense of apprehension as I saw that Blackburn was actually presenting even though the RT said Jensen. Tony seemed more interested in working his way through the youngest looking memebers of the audience, so managed to save my wrath for Brotherhood of Meh....had a minor flashback during "Angelo" due to the red wine I'd been drinking since the episode began...Bob Marley was on playing the only other song they have footage for it seems (so much for them "coming over 'ere, taking ALL our jobs!!") apart fae Stir It Up. Barry Biggs was channelling Roussos it seemed, by this point I was losing the will to power, then Donna Summer returned from the grave to rave (too soon?) with I Feel Love
Well at least it WAS Jensen this week, now this is the episode i always wanted to see as it was reviewed in Sounds ( reprinted in The Sex Pistols File i think.....) at the time. And true to form only The Saints & SP held any interest. the rest were Jigsaw (big boys do scream it seems), The Real Thing with a song that I forgot as they were playing it, Rita Coolidge made my mate horny for some reason...I say jawjut cough cough. Hot Chocolate seemed to be enjoying their success, new kit, equipment etc, fair play as twas a better song then I remembered. Pity they had to ruin it with the playout, which was EL fricking P. H A T E is too weak a word for what I feel about these cunts. they are not fit to lick Goblin's shoes. Harumph.
How did the Pistiols get away with singing Pretty Vacunt on prime-time TV?
A decent episode this week - Eddie & the Hot Rods, The Adverts, Boomtown Rats and a bit of unexpected buttock exposure from Legs & Co during the Elvis number...
I suspect with all this Jimmy Saville nonce stuff now in the public eye, the repeats will now be intermittent with all episodes with him not shown.
you could tell just by the atmosphere of the show all the DJs were probably fucking the teenagers that were huddled around them on their presenting duties.
Tony Blackburn was rumoured to have slept with a 1,000 plus women, how many of them were from school discos and top of the pops
Its been confirmed by a newspaper and someone mentioning it on another forum that further repeats with Jimmy Savile will not be shown.
Which,as it happens seem to be only 5 or 6 a year from the point thats been reached.
Guilty or not and probably one of many in the entertainment business, its a hard thing to take. He was knighted, renowned for charity work and presented a very well known children's program.
Bit more of an impact than some randy pop star.
I agree with you that this is a hard thing to take, but all the charity work and children's programmes are good cover when you like young girls. There are too many people coming forward for this to be hearsay. Plus, the media wanted to expose him and he threatened to stop giving to certain charities if they didn't pull the story. Added to that was the fact that he was already being investigated, but the CPS found there was a lack of evidence.
Mr Savile was a very naughty boy!

I noticed Kenny Everett was looking a tad nervous in TOTP, and very young, so just starting out in that edition perhaps...
