Recommendations of movies with unique spacesuits

Can anyone think of some films mainly 60s-late 70s, with interesting, colourful or bizarre spacesuits(especially with helmets)?

I know 2001, Godzilla vs Monster Zero, Planet of the Vampires, Alien, Star Trek TMP.
The more they deviate from a NASA astronaut the better. Thanks.

My criterion of good space/alien oriented SF is how fetishtically grand the space suits are. This makes Alien and it's sequels uninspiring. It also makes El Planeta de las Mujeres Invasoras a must see classic.

It also establishes Invasion of the Star Creatures as a more enjoyable experience than Solaris (either version).



Starcrash is aesthetically top-notch too.

I originally had Fantastic Voyage in mind as well (not outer space but inner space is close enough) but after re-viewing it RW's costume, it was a scuba suit and not very futuristic.

The Buck Rogers tv series got in there at the end of the 70s too and I recall lots of space costumes and helmets.

I had a crush on Erin Gray when I was a youngblood.

Forgot to add La Nave de los Monstruos which is slowly becoming my favorite movie.



You should search for old SF pulp magazine pics too.

Why the interest? Looking for artistic inspiration? Or just something good to watch?

haha nice foto, theres always the insane WAR OF THE ROBOTS and personally ive always thought that the space suits in 2001 were cool, even if they are very close to what was eventually used....

Yep artistic inspiration (I havent forgotten the Twins of Evil pic I was after(although I wish it was a little larger but better than nothing) , but that's for something else.

I need to design a 60s-70s space costume--something like a cross between 2001 and Planet of the Vampires, unless one of the movies I havent checked out yet takes me in a different direction--but sci fi magazines from the era would probably have something too-should check out some illustrated book covers.
