Anyone been watching this on BBC4? A 20 part epic following an investigation into the rape and murder of a 19 year old school girl...and the consequences that follow. First off, 'The Killing' is clearly influenced by the classy, grown up dramas we've been getting from the states from: HBO, Showtime, AMC etc, but the seriousness and lack of glamour that the series gives off makes it very much a European or even, more precisely, Scandinavian affair. Four parts in, and it's a brilliant, hopelessly addictive, slow-burner...the show is available to import from Australia with subtitles and I have to say I'm tempted to make the purchase already...previous episodes are available for 'catch up' viewing on the BBC website, so if you're not watching this, I urge you to...and AMC are remaking the show for American cable TV for showing later this year...with Scorsese's 'Boardwalk Empire' later in the week, I kind of feel spoiled at the quality TV that's doing the rounds...a pity so little of it home-grown...
