Something Weird DVD Listings

Are there any up-to-date listings (on line or anywhere else) of all the discs that have been released by Something Weird in the States? I'm a big fan of their stuff but they've released so many it's easy to lose track of what's available. Also, any listings of stuff that has been available and is now deleted?

A lot of their discs are pretty cheap on Amazon now and I'd like to start picking up some of the ones I've missed out on (I probably have about 40 but that's just scratching the surface).

There's SW's own website of course but I'm not sure how current that is.

Here you go Mr. Y. As far as I know this is complete (and mighty helpful). I compiled it from a couple of different sources. It's separated into 3 groups. The first is all the originally released titles. The second is the repackaging in multi-disc sets (except for the Bettie Page disc which was originally 2 discs and was reissued on one) and box sets. The third is titles that were announced but never released (though I did read somewhere of test pressings, but I wouldn't hold your breath). For the most part it is ordered by release date. If something has a number after the title that means it is available somewhere else or, for box sets, it means that it is what's contained in them (this might seem annoying at first, but the list became too cluttered when putting the whole disc name/box set title in). Only the Image special edition DVDs are listed, none of the DVD-R only titles are here. If I've missed anything please point it out and I'll update. Here it be:

I was always hoping Something Weird would release THE FABULOUS B*STARD FROM CHICAGO (1969), but I don't think they ever got round to it, unless they released it as a DVD-R. Can anyone fill me in?

It was released by them on VHS and DVD-R, still looks available too.

There's a good story on one of the discs about the trouble caused by the Novak titles. Seems Mike was getting calls all the time because of the explicitness of them. At one point Image had a meeting and discussed whether a man hitting a woman in the face with his cock constituted pornography. They finally decided that since there was no penetration it was not pornography.

New Oldies.com catalog has Blood Freak and Monster A Go Go/Psyched By The 4D Witch for $13 a pop (perty good prices for these great OOP ones and they do international shipping, though I might not load up your cart to save on shipping as stuff listed in stock on the site is sometimes not in stock). Also Amazon has some titles on sale for Halloween (I think I saw Mantis In Lace for something absurd like $3.50).

Been talked of elsewhere, but SW and Harry Novak are parting ways in Feb 2011. About 1/5 of the discs listed above will be no longer available, and many more VHS/DVD-R only titles will also be deleted from their catalog (and they'll stop selling everything on VHS tape too. As someone without a DVD-R recorder who's watched the price of blank VHS skyrocket about %25 in the last year I can understand this one). SW also have a sale going on now, 10 DVD-Rs (doesn't apply to Image discs) for $80 post paid (if you're out of the USA you have to foot the postage bill, and since you are they offer VHS tapes in the 10 for 80 deal too).

I had several of the Harry Novak DVD's, but when I did a clear up of my collection a while back, they were the SWV ones I (mostly) got rid of. The films with Harry's name attached are for the most part extremely boring. The likes of 'The Godson/Below the Belt' and 'Please Don't Eat My Mother' are a chore to sit through.

The sex scenes ramble, the humor is juvenile, and for the most part they're not exactly engaging, but they have their charms. And though a good amount of his stuff falls into his patent meandering sex scene filled comedies (which I love, but wouldn't recommend unless the first sentence of this post sounds appealing to you *), he has more variety than given credit for. There are weird horrors (The Child, Axe), weird sex (The Toy Box, Mantis In Lace), cool b&w nudies (Venus In Furs, the berserk Kitten In A Cage), wacky imports (Frankenstein's Castle Of Freaks, The Mad Butcher), forced perspective as high art ape shenanigans (Mighty Gorga) , bargain basement exploitation tragedy (Toys Are Not For Children), and probably my favorite, the rock 'n' roll fueled monster nudie cuties (Kiss Me Quick, House On Bare Mountain).

Even if you don't like the movies, the soundtracks are always great, which make the discs perfect to keep on in the background as you clean, cook or browse the internet (I really wish someone would collect some of his soundtrack music for a CD).

I've read that SW will be reissuing some of their deleted titles. Anyone know which ones they are?

I'm figuring everything, except the Novak stuff, the Hogue stuff (Doctor Gore, Blood Freak, Asylum Of Satan, Monster A-Go-Go and the Mahon kiddie disc), and the the Mexican stuff should be back in print. This is just an assumption, but as it's gone from their catalog on all formats I don't think it's coming back.
