The 'infamous baby scene' is acted, one assumes, so I don't have a problem with it. I think that the techno soundtrack that this film apparently has will offend and disturb me more, if anything.

Spot on tobiaswragg, it's all just a bunch of actors reciting someone's script for the benefit of cameras, microphones, lights etc. Quite why anyone would get riled - or feel the need to censor - this make-believe slice of theatre is odd to me.

The soundtrack's pretty good from what I remember (and I loathe techno).

Thank you, claire. I have even more reason to see it (uncut) now.

Sorry, claire, I just get a bit passionate about this stuff sometimes. I just don't like the direction horror appears to be taking. As I said before, I want to be scared and on edge, not repulsed. But, that's my opinion and it's all subjective.

can i just say that on the night i did watch ASF, i was horribly transfixed by a rather odd doc on bbc3 about Beckii Cruel?? ie manx schoolgirl who found fame in japan dancing on youtube? where her copper father admitted more or less that certain people would "enjoy" watching his 14 year old daughter jig about in a white top and a tartan skirt...

and drterror i heartily agree with you, but the last film that truely terrified me was ASF (for subjective reasons...)

Interesting to observe that people who presumably reside in Britain have found this film (and uncut, yet) so easy to get hold of...

I was going to watch that programme. I'm sure wholesome, family people would find it a treat to watch his daughter! Well, it makes money I suppose...

If this film had been made available uncut in the uk how many of you would have bought the DVD ?
How many of you would of bought the DVD if it was cut ? I know I would of bought it if I could. Even importing it will be dodgy just incase customs gets their grubby hands on it!

IF it had been given uncut status in the UK then i would have bought it. If cut then no. Understandable re: customs but i would have more concern importing Emanuelle In America ie: i wouldnt have thought twice about ASF, i would have imported it.

    Does that sound naive?

Emanuelle In America contains at least one scene that is in clear breach of UK law ie the bestiality, Serbian however contains nothing that is in conflict with the law - only Board guidelines. So I think the Emanuelle film would be of more concern when importing.

I haven't had a single DVD opened by customs in years. Importing DVD's really isn't a problem I don't think. And who cares about a woman playing with a horses dick in some old Italian exploitation film anyway? Anyone upset by that scene needs to get a sense of humour quick. Don't worry about importing EIA guthrie, just do it, you will have no problems.

Saw the trailer for A Serbian Film. Meh, I might watch it one day but at the moment I'm really not fussed....there are still far too many golden oldies/obscurities I want to get my hands on before ever getting round to this. Might check out that ...Porno Gang film though. It's got horse wang fondling in it! Yay!

I agree with Someone Weird. There are mouldy oldies from the 70s, such as Forced Entry, Sex Wish and Water Power, which I'm actually ashamed to admit that I haven't seen yet, and which are higher up on my list of cinematic priorities than A Serbian Film.

yes, im now dying to see the butchered version of this film...best example i can give is ICHI..saw the 124minute version...was very impressed by its sheer mayhem...raved to all and sundry about it...so much so that mate bought the 117minute version, by accident, and even though still it had a certain appeal, you cant unlearn can you? i only saw the lessening of impact etc.
EIA is an ODD film, as are most of d'amato's, a real case of having your cake...etc.
the more i think about it ASF is a live action hentai IMO.

I chucked good money away on the Hong Kong dvd of Ichi The Killer (the tosser flogging it on Ebay said it was 'uncut'), which is cut even more that the UK release. Thankfully, I saw the bits I missed on YouTube.

A cut blu-ray/dvd release of A Serbian Film is, to state the obvious, not a very appetising prospect.

I have to wonder how this slipped through with cuts whilst Murder Set Pieces was banned.

Maybe because it is supposedly making some kind of profound statement.

Murder Set Pieces was banned because passing it with cuts would have meant the removal of at least 20m of footage. Almost all the violence and terrorisation against women would have had to go. It simply wasn't worth passing with an 18. For a rejection to take place the film must contain wall to wall unacceptabale material. Serbian was only cut by 4m which means that a lot of violence would have been left in because this film does contain some very lengthy scenes of violence and sexual violence. Enough to make the release worthwhile at least for the BBFC. I'm still waiting to see exactly what the cuts are but I think they are mostly to do with the scenes where children are involved and perhaps one or two scenes of sexual violence. Yeah I'm also waiting to see the cut version to see how the film plays with the cuts.
