    Any Interest In New Anthologies?

I've been writing horror anthology scripts for some time now and began production on a low budget film about a year ago. Well, we managed to film the linking narrative anyway...

I've currently around 15 or more ideas, some in script form others in synopsis form. If there's at all any interest out there for such films (which would be in the old Amicus style) let me know.

Are you shooting on film or video?

In what way are you asking people to express any interest they have? i.e. are you attempting to find out how much marketing potential such a film might have or are you seeking people who are interested in contributing to the project and, if so, what kind of contribution do you need/want?

    Anthloogy

The whole caboodle. It'd be good to know if there is a market for it. And interest from investors, production companies, actors etc... is always welcome.

I've scripts at varying stages of completion and as I mentioned before actually started on some linking material. This was very low budget though. VERY low budget. But the intention is to complete the production at some point.

I take it that there is little interest in new anthologies then. Thats a shame, but I still intend to continue in that direction. Just need to get someone with a lot of clout interested.

    The Horror!

An intention would also be to get as many of the actors involved in Amicus anthologies as possible. Ian Olgilvy, David Warner, etc... But I am ill versed in such production matters so don't know where to start getting the ball rolling. The Scripts exist and the ideas are here...

You can still make a great movie with unknowns - it's cheaper and it'll be easier to fill your roles. How many name actors did Dawn of the Dead have, or Evil Dead, or Blair Witch, or Texas Chainsaw....

If the story, script, direction, acting, etc. ends up skillfully executed then you don't really need a 'name' attached to it, do you.

I know, but it'd be nice to help lend to the Amicusness. As I mentioned we filmed a very loose linking narrative with myself and a friend of mine. And we're definately not 'big-name' stars. Though I did play a Sontaran in a Doctor Who spin-off! haha!

I've just been trying to gauge the interest level of such a venture and it would appear that you're the only one who has shown any so far! On this discussion board anyway...

I wouldn't worry about the number of people showing interest on this particular discussion board - I think most here are more interested in discussing stuff that already exists rather than stuff that's yet to be made by an unknown director.

There are a few sites that have message boards for independent film-makers where one can acquire personnel and whatever is needed, where you'd probably get a much better response I think.

As far as marketing a film these days based on the fact that you have an old Amicus star involved, well you probably wouldn't be arousing much more interest than if you hadn't bothered with the known thesp because I doubt there are many in the general population who'd even be familiar with the name 'Amicus" anymore - what do you think?

    Maybe

This is true but it'd still be a nice touch to get, say Geoffrey Bayldon on board. People who didn't know about the films would just think what a great old actor whereas we who know would be thinking how nice to see him in an anthology again. Sorry but thats the fan in me. Otherwise, yeah unknowns are fine as long as they can act. There are plenty of 'knows' out there who can't!

Got any links for me to these film-maker sites?

    Try www.deliriumfilms.co.uk

Then when you get to there home page click on Talent Circle. If you sign up with them (fre of charge) you can submit your ideas and if anyone is interested they will contact you. It's an independent film website so may be of use to you.

Try it out. What have you got to lose.

PJ, Raindance is a great site that features news, courses, tons of information on how to obtain financing/write scripts, etc. Plus it has a bulletin board where you can browse messages by people who are offering their services (strictly platonic you understand) and you can leave you own information requesting/offering whatever is necessary.

They also have an e-zine where you can leave free classifieds. The bulletin board is temporarily down but is expected to be back up soon with a new monitoring system.

I did some storyboarding for a short film production (that eventually went bust) through answering one of the bulletin messages on there, so hope for relevant contact does exist.

    Thanks

Cheers guys. I'll look into them.

I did actually manage to write/direct/produce/star in a feature length production and would love to get some people interested in screenings of it and possible releases. Its very low budget but rather amusing. Oh and its not horror, though there are some nice horror influenced moments in it.
