Timothy Carey's THE WORLD'S GREATEST SINNER on DVD?

I'm sure this has been discussed on other forums in the past, but this is my spot now and I can't be bothered to search posts on other forums

Has there ever been a DVD release -- official or unofficial -- of Timothy Carey's spellbinding THE WORLD'S GREATEST SINNER? I had a VHS copy of a copy from a friend of a friend many years back. However, when my last VCR got zapped during a lightning storm in 2003, I never bothered to replace it and I wound up selling all few remaining video cassettes. Now I wish I still had this movie!

I think around 2001 or so that someone somewhere was trying to get this released on DVD either independently or through an established label, but it never happened. Anyone have any other info?

Good to hear there's another fan this one on these very forums.

No, it's criminal - this highly underrated gem has to date received no official release on DVD, although it did get a VHS release courtesy of Absolute Films (Carey's son). It was recently shown on TCM in the US, so I now have it on VHS and DVD.

The Absolute Films release also includes a heap of other weird and wonderful Carey stuff, it's a hoot!

I really only know of this from reading of Frank Zappa's involvement with the film. What's it like?

I found the TCM broadcast version of this over the weekend. At a cursory glance, it looks like a pretty good presentation -- certainly far better than the 2nd or 3rd generation VHS copy I used to have. I had completely forgotten about Paul Frees appearing as the narrator/voice of the serpent!

It's too bad he's passed as Timothy Carey could really teach these Dancing With The Stars simps a thing or two. This flick speaks volumes on rock 'n' roll, too. (Among other things.) A favorite.

It's available via absolutefilms.net -- yes, it says VHS but you'll get a DVD. That's run by Timothy Carey's son, Romeo.
