    Zombi 2

Does anyone know if (and why) the Shriek Show Zombi 2 release has been withdrawn?

DVD Pacific has removed it from my wish list and their site altogether, DVD Boxoffice say it has been made a moritorium item and some of the fans comments on the Shriek Show site state that it has been postponed.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks Marc.

Do you know what the extras are as the site is vague.

I'm really looking forward to this one. They're being quite cagey about the details aren't they.

does anyone know if Zombi 2 : S.E. will be out this year or is the delay going to be a lot longer?

I read that it was delayed until the end of the year, possibly even getting a 2004 release. Worth waiting for though don't you think?

I'd say that a special edition would most definitely be worth waiting for. I have the Italian Shock version which is quite good, but the picture quality does leave something to be desired....

On www.rowdysdvds.co.uk i saw it listed as 'cancelled' but directly underneath was another Shriek Show "ZOMBI 2" listed (as 2-disc SE) that was down as due out very soon...

I just checked www.rowdysdvds.co.uk and they in fact state August 26th as the release date they have for the 2-disc SE of "ZOMBI 2"...

Btw, Media Blasters/Shriek Show have finally updated their site to include Zombi 2 and Erotic Nights of the Living Dead (ADULT!), both of which I'm really looking forward to (or you can opt for the single BU disc of the former). Prices are at $29.95 but I know you can get them much cheaper if you chop around, sorry, shop around.

Still not much info for the Fulci movie (27th July retail) but the features listed are "Over two hours of interviews with cast members, cinema photographers, special effects artists and more! Commentary, extensive photo gallery and poster reproduction inserts!"

They also have a 1.85:1 ratio which better be wrong as it should be glorious 2.35:1, as we all know!

zombi 2 at italian /japan shock video

the zombi 2 (Fulci ) has been edited by Italian/japan shock films with a wonderful audio trackand some extras (among which the separated music).
it's also cheaper than all other editions, especially the awful one from VIPCO (which was cut, inaudible, and had a bad picture)

I'm assuming this isn't UK, so when's this coming out over here?

It's Media Blasters (2 disc set) and Blue Underground (single disc) that are releasing it, in the US only unfortunately (but you can always import) - I think Stonevision still have it over here but I'd eat my hat if they released it in a form that comes anywhere near what we're going to be getting from the aforementioned R1 distributors.

Arn't all Blue Underground releases R0? If so, importing should be easy and painless, even for the region confined.

Your hat is safe, Paul. I own the Stonevision (released as Zombie Flesh Eaters). It's crap. I've got my name down for the BU "Zombie", as I posted on the Dead and Buried thread yesterday. All these AKAs don't help, do they?

BTW, made the mistake of looking at "Zombie" whilst on the BU site: http://www.blue-underground.com/movie.php?movie_id=57
Could not resist pre-ordering, at approx £7.25 delivered from DVD Soon, less than my crappy Stonevision "Zombie Flesh Eaters" cost me a year ago.

Details (from Fangoria) of the Shriek Show disc(s) are as follows:

    1st Disc...
    • Newly remastered widescreen transfer,
    • Audio commentary by actor Ian McCullough,
    • “Food for the Worms,” a 13-minute featurette interviewing opening-scene zombie Captain Haggerty,
    • Production stills, posters and lobby card gallery,
    • Outtakes,
    • Original ZOMBI 2 trailer, plus trailers for ZOMBIE 3, ZOMBI 4: AFTER DEATH and ZOMBI 5: KILLING BIRDS, FLESH FOR THE BEAST, FLESH EATER, EROTIC NIGHTS OF THE LIVING DEAD, ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST, BURIAL GROUND and BIO-ZOMBIE.

    2nd Disc...
    • “Building a Better Zombie,” a 98-minute documentary featuring interviews with producer Fabrizio De Angelis, makeup FX creator Giannetto De Rossi, cinematographer Sergio Salvati, composer Fabio Frizzi, makeup artists Maurizio Trani and Rosario Prestopino, camera operator Franco Bruni and hairstylist Mirella DeRossi Sforza,
    • “Raising the Dead,” a six-minute featurette interviewing production and costume designer Walter Patriarca,
    • “An Evening With Dakar”: Actor Dakar, who plays the character of Lucas, sings.

Great but no details of sound formats. However I've been reading that BU have 5.1 remastered soundtracks in both English AND Italian (with English subs thankfully). Don't know whether this is the case with the SS set but personally I think it's great although people have been bickering about which is more relevant over at a US site. If both are there, why worry? The Italian track could certainly add an interesting aura to the film and congrats to BU/MB (?) for exhuming it.

Wow! I'm so excited by this release, I can hardly wait. The extras sound pretty cool, and an Italian soundtrack!
