    Deleted Scenes

The reason why most deleted scenes that appear on DVDs are deleted is usually obvious, but there are some real gems tucked away in these extras. Does anyone have any favourites, from any films, not just horror movies?

    Mine include:

the Dr Pepper/Mr Pepper scene from Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me - I'll never understand why it was cut

the extended prison scene from Goldmember

the Rock Star sequence from Bedazzled

I'm sure there are others but these spring imediately to mind

All of the deleted scenes from Go. I can only assume they were cut for time or pacing reasons.

Definitely the cocoon sequence from Alien - that would have been the darkest (conceptually) scene of the film if that had been in.

    Boogie Nights

Without a doubt, the deleted scene from Boogie Nights where Wahlberg, Reilly and their 'tasched pal snort cocaine - the camera remains on the floor below a glass table as they cut the coke, the editing is frenetic to say the least. And it lasts (as far as I can remember) circa 5 minutes. Awesome...

But, it's only on the R1 special edition 2 discer.

The out takes from Monsters Inc and the Toy Story movies. Okay, I'll probably get banned from using the forum for saying that, but for anyone who hasn't seen them, they're absolutely brilliant.

Definitely Spinal Tap.... that discussion about falling at the speed at sound is pure genius

Gremlins 2 (R1) has a couple of good ones.... hilarious gag reel too.

Kevin Smith discs are always worth a look too

    Absolutely!

One scene that springs to mind is a scene cut from Chasing Amy - the scene Smith wrote in response to the bashing that Mallrats got from critics. The scene is where Holden and Banky are in the comic store and the scene finishes with Banky throwing a trash can throught the window. Jay's conversation with the hookers from JASBSB was neat as well - although it was more 'censored' than 'deleted'.

Have the Spinal Tap fans listened to the commentary too? I swear it's brilliant - my personal favourite commentary (they're still in character for those who haven't heard it).

Disturbing Behavior is a lost classic (exaggeration).
Check the region 1 dvd it has scenes vital to the story cut out for no real reasons.

Disturbing Behaviour definetly would have been a much better film had the deleted scenes been left in... plus there's the added bonus of Katie Holmes gettin' it on.
Dude, that is so freakin' HOT!

    PINK FLAMINGOS

The deleted scenes from New Line's R1 disc of PINK FLAMINGOS.

The conversation with Patty Hitler ... the Manson-style massacre ... C++t Eyes - Why weren't these included in the final cut?!

Also, I think THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS would have been a better film had it included some of the deleted scenes featured on MGM's 2 disc SE.

I wonder, though, if we'll ever get to see the hallowed deleted 'piranah' scene from CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST - as promised by Grindhouse on their (yawn!) forthcoming SE!!

Not really deleted scenes as such, but the funniest extra I've seen in a long, long time was on the UK R2 2 Disc Set of Basic Instinct. The extra feature consisted of excerpts from the toned down US TV version where the dialogue has been censored - it's *motherfunny* hilarious, really *floggin'* funny.

Forthcoming? Yeah...right. I'm just wondering if they'll let me watch it in the old folks home when it comes out in 2056...

I heard that although there are stills of the piranah scene, it was never shot. Just what I heard.
P.S. For those wanting Holocaust check out nowhere-dvd.co.uk, it has loads of horror.

Erm...I think you'll find that Nowhere DVD are no longer operational and their website is no longer there either.

I wouldn't bother with any other DAWN discs until the ABUS 3 discer comes out.

    And as for deleted scenes..........

The bank robbery in ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK!!!

I know it's not out yet but the LASERDISC had a few snippets on it and we (Haydw & myself) nearly p1ssed ourselves when that came on.

But I would have to say that the first time I ever saw the extra stuff for ALIENS (Haydw was there as well) I will NEVER be able to re-live.

There were 5 of us and I ahd gotten hold of a bootleg & when the first scene with Ripley in the forest came on....I swear to god you would have thought that someone was being murdered the amount of screaming coming from us!!!

I have always been looking for the same experience again but never had it like the first time!!

Also the Robert Shaw in the music shop scene from JAWS!!! Christ that's funny with him "PAHPAHPAHPing" behind the little kid playing the trumpet!!!

And deleted/missing scenes I would like to see........

MY BLOODY VALENTINE & The Wicker man stuff!!!

    But alas...it's never to be.
