Re: Shriek Show Bargain Priced triple & quadruple features

I've been doing a little digging online and the controversial comments were appartently directed at people involved with the Mobius Home Video Forums. To be fair using a DVD audio commentary as a platform to air petty grievances with and make accusations against someone off a fan forum (who does not have the same public platform to defend themselves) is pretty childish, vindictive and unprofessional. Not something you would expect a reputable label to associate themselves with.

I've been looking at the Shriek Show section at DVDpacific and just about everything is listed as being as on order or in low stock. Not a good sign...

They seem to be reissuing the 3 packs in a slim single case packaging. The new Wicked Women set is missing Nightmares Come At Night. (OK, in unison now, Boo!) It has something called Wicked Lake in its place. Music by the guy from Ministry, so you know this thing (*crass language alert*) will suck a pair of frostbit dog's nuts.

I know SS releases have problems but these box sets are so cheap i'm not going to complain. Still better than most of the stuff we get in the uk.

I hope Moviemars have sent me the old one; I only bought it for Nightmares...

Media Blasters also released quite a few sets through their Tokyo Shock imprint:
    Eko Eko Azarak
    All Night Long
    Zeiram/II
    The Keita Amemiya Collection

...some others too I can't remember off-hand. Recent shot on video pinky violence-type stuff, but I can't really be bothered with it to be honest!

It's just a pity they've stopped releasing new 3 packs. I remember a couple of years back they were always announcing them but they seem to have stopped entirely.

I'm slowly getting around to owning all of them. The best one thus far has probably been the Mutant Monsters set but each one has had merit although I have had to sit through some real crap too - Creatures Of The Abyss, Witchcraft: Evil Encounters, Bad Inclination (a contender for worst dubbed film ever!), Devil Dog and a few others. What's amusing is even the lowest of the low will often get the red carpet treatment by Shriek Show, you gotta love 'em!

I like Devil Dog! There are some films in those sets that I've still yet to open though, Flesh Eater being one of them...

As far as recent sets go, I know they re-issued the Zatoichi and Lone Wolf and Cub TV series' into six disc sets so they're still doing some - I would imagine there are very few actual Shriek Show titles to be bundled together now...and I'm still holding out for the Rica trilogy....

There's still a fair few they could put in box sets. There's a batch of Code Red titles they acquired last year, then there's a load of giallo titles. And also the likes of Patrick Still Lives, Virgin Of Nuremberg, Frankenstein's Bloody Terror, The Oracle, Dark Craving, Erotic Nights Of The Living Dead, Evils Of The Night, and a few others.

They seem to be too bothered about repackaging Flesh For The Beast and Shadow Riot for the umpteenth time nowadays though.

According to DVDCompare SS Deep River Savages disc is RCE enconded. What does that mean?

    Thanks.

I had that disc and it played fine on my cheap Asda dvd player.

Good news! New 3 pack coming Jan. 19 from Exploitation Digital, Nunsploitation Collection featuring:

    • Images in a Convent (w/bonus D'Amato documentary)
    • Nun of Monza (Bruno Mattei!!!)
    • Nuns of St Archangel

    $19.99 SRP

I've been eyeing the first 2 for some time (especially the D'Amato for part 2 of the documentary that's on Anthropophagus disc set). Funny what a cheap price tag will do for non essential purchases.

I have Nun of Monza already, have wanted to get Images in a Convent but read that a whole 3 min scene was missing from the Shriekshow release. I doubt whether they have bothered to sort it out for this triple pack either since they normally just bung existing discs in a slipcase. Sigh.... hopefully AWE or the like will issue the full uncut version one day.

    SS Hell Pack 2 featuring:

    • SS Hell Camp
    • Gestapo s Last Orgy
    • Red Nights of the Gestapo

    $19.99 SRP

Release date is March 9, 2008. Add 2 years and you're probably in the ballpark. Not sure if there's much interest still with the AWEs, but if your wallet has an end that you see quite often you could do a lot worse for 20 bucks. As for me I'll be awaiting March 9, 2008 with $19.99 in hand.
