I think the Expendables was ok (but not ok in a Cobra sort of way) It wasnt tough enough in the bad guy department and it seemed like it was missing a big sunny explosive third act confrontation back in Los Angeles. Instead of Lundgren showing up in the garage, and they have a knife and poetry contest, seemed to me it was aching to have some of the bad guys go after what's his name's girlfriend and then Rourke and Lundgren help to save the day to complete their character arcs. But compared to what Bronson was doing at the same age, Stallone does come off wimpy.

I never think of this film in the same way as Carpenter's other movies, but as a work for hire it really shows his skill. The high school scenes alone were so well done, even if most of the players looked to be at least 30. Its very convincing. Darnell steals the movie.
That's the last time you run that mechanical asshole in here without an exhaust hose.
