Watched RETRIBUTION last night - I first saw the movie when it was out at the cinema in the UK (when was that? 1987?) and have maybe seen it once more since then. Well, the film's FAR cheesier than I remembered and oh so very '80s, but great fun nonetheless. Dennis Lipscomb makes for a solid (if slightly whiny) lead, it's certainly well produced and the last 20 minutes are quite wonderfully OTT. Not sure why the film's compared with TCM and MANIAC on the cover, though - it seems to be the polar opposite of those two dark, gritty gems. By contrast, RETRIBUTION is super-slick and, to be honest, often irredeemably silly. But I'm chuffed to finally have it in my collection. Code Red's DVD is one of their better efforts, featuring a great print (bar the odd nick and scratch) and some nice extras (haven't yet listened to Guy Magar's commentary, but will do so this weekend). Recommended.
Now, while I'm on a Lipscomb tip - what would be the chances of Code Red releasing EYES OF FIRE?
Seems Lionsgate own Eyes of Fire...
Ghostkeeper is back up at the Code Red store (2nd pressing).
People Who Own The Dark has now sold out, however Bill Olsen has stated on the Latarnia Forums earlier today, that it is being repressed and will be available again from the Code Red online store in approximately three weeks. So if you haven't bought a copy yet, don't panic and pay the inflated prices that some of the opportunists and price gougers are touting copies for on E-Bay and Amazon.
"4 re-presses coming soon to Code Reds BigCartel shop! TERMINAL ISLAND, THE VISITOR, WITCHMAKER & NIGHT OF THE DEMON. So dont buy from ebays!" (Bill/Twitter)
Just a quick heads up to anyone interested, Bill has just re-added the previously withdrawn double-bill of The Severed Arm and So Sad About Gloria to his online store. According to Bill there are only 6 copies available at present, and sales are strictly limited to one per customer, in order to deter E-Bay and Amazon scalpers from buying them in order to sell on at a premium. Good call if you ask me!
Have a look at the updated CR store:
