    The Code Red DVD thread

As the Code Red guys visit here from time to time, I thought they deserved their own dedicated thread.

As you know, they recently ended their distribution deal with Media Blasters and have signed to BCI, so things are looking up. We should all offer the Code Red brothers our support.

I've got Don't Go In The Woods and The Forest. Both as, in my never to be humble view, essential buys for the horror fan building a collection. They're nutty, ever so slightly wonky, and definately created with tender loving care.

The Dead Pit is something I crave! So yeah - kudos to Code Red!

It's disappointing that they are no longer planning to release The Redeemer.

Quite intrigued by Devil Times Five. The trailer on Synapse's 42nd St Forever III compilation is a highlight of the whole disc. The reviews for the movie itself are all over the place - a love it or hate it experience, it seems.

    Re: The Code Red thread

I wanted The Redeemer out as well but in fairness to them they did give a valid reason as to why they couldn't. I just wish they knew it before they signed the deal. I thought they received unfair stick. In the meantime it looks like the EastWest DVD is the way to go, and it's double billed with the Andy Milligan classic Carnage.

It's worth noting that some of the films Code Red were bringing out (The Chilling, Love Me Deadly, Campus Corpse*) are now coming out via Shriek Show. Good to see SS doing something, I thought they had stopped releasing new discs.

    * I think Code Red had that one pencilled in.

I've bought everything they've released. Even though I don't like half of them I will show my support so their future releases can happen.

    Re: The Code Red thread

We have their Devil Times Five DVD and they put an impressive amount of work into compiling the special features. They tracked down just about all of those old actors and did interviews with them. This DVD has some of the most candid behind-the-scenes stories I've ever seen.

I personally did not like the movie, but our reviewer, Rod Zombie, loved it. He's more into horror and he loves cheesy old movies. This was right up his alley. I'm more into the nun erotica and sexploitation films.

Code Red should be commended for putting so much work into these DVDs. They put a lot of effort into creating a quality package.

I used to have the Colourbox VHS of The Dead Pit,which I am reliably informed was fully uncut.I really was not too impressed with this flick at all and it was nowhere near as gory as I thought it was going to be,disappointing stuff imo.I probably won't be picking up the Code Red DVD of this, but you can definitely count me in on Nightmares in a Damaged Brain.

I have the midnite movies release of the dead pit.
Although not the greatest zombie flick i still found it very watchable, although the r2 dvd is not the best of quality,so any release from code red will be a deffo upgrade.
Well,at least the dead pit is better than brett's awful lawnmower man.

And the terrible Feed which I sat through following his introduction at a Soho screening room back in 2005.

Awww I didn't mind Feed, I've endured worse since and before. I'm glad online DVD rentals came about otherwise I'd still be buying complete rubbish all the time. What's The Forest like? I've read a review that made it sound like Don't Go Into The Woods was an Oscar worthy film. I remember watching The Dead Pit on VHS a few years ago, I rather liked it for it's comedy value. The secene with the actress in the showers and her top just falls off was hillarious!

CODE RED are the most exciting label at the moment (in my opinion . I'd gladly buy most of their stuff just because it looks so intriguing, THE FARMER, DAY AT THE BEACH etc...Bring it on!
DUFFER & TAKE AN EASY RIDE, what's next? DEADLY STRANGERS & UNMAN,WITTERING & ZIGO?

The video transfer on the Colourbox tape wasn't all that great so seeing a clear new DVD transfer of The Dead Pit may give me a new appreciation of the film,it's happened with me in the past that way. So,if I see it going cheap enough I might just pick it up.

I thought Final Exam would never get released as I heard it was funded by some mafia so releasing it would not be worth the risk. Or have I been lied to?

Has anybody received Code Red's release of Sole Survivor yet? If so, can they post the exact running time here please as I've just been asked to check it against the old UK pre-cert video release.

What's the score with this disc? Is it being re-released by BCI/Navarro or do we have to rely on getting hold of the Media Blasters disc?
