    Re: TV Alert

LEGACY OF BLOOD was not on today, CHAINED FOR LIFE instead. Pulse appears to be one of those channels, rather like Paranormal, whose announced schedule differs from what is actually broadcast. They've scheduled the Bela Lugosi film THE MYSTERIOUS MR. WONG a few times (it was supposed to follow LEGACY OF BLOOD today), instead we get THE VAMPIRE BAT, although today it was UFO: TARGET EARTH.

A new channel, Simply Movies, is showing the Seventies British film A DAY IN THE DEATH OF JOE EGG tonight, which may be of interest to some of you.

Don't have a dvd recorder Marc, sorry. Also everything I tape from my Sky digibox is afflicted with wavy lines for some reason.

Yes, I'm afraid that Sky appear to be attempting to dissuade people from offair taping. All the channels are affected with this interference on the picture, not just the Sky channels.

It will be interesting to see if they screen the uncut version. The copy I got from TNT a few months ago was sadly slightly cut. Great film though!

Yeah, I actually vaguely remember it from a Saturday night showing on ITV when I was about 9 or 10, looking forward to seeing it again.

Bit late now, but last night the paranormal channel showed a cracking Xmas double bill with DON'T OPEN 'TIL CHRISTMAS and YOU BETTER WATCH OUT. Nice!

The print quality of DON'T OPEN was abysmal but YBWO was in great shape and, considering it carried the film's original title rather than CHRISTMAS EVIL, I reckon it may have been the same print that Synapse used for their US DVD release a while back...

Recently released on DVD through a subdivision of Network, the Stanley Long directed 'West End Jungle' is on this coming Saturday 11th April, 10:20pm - 11:15pm on BBC4.

Banned when made in 1961, this documentary offers a comprehensive insight into the history and seedy reality of the sex industry in London's Soho. Examining the consequences of the introduction of the Street Offences Act in 1959, which until then had seen as many as 10,000 prostitutes line the streets and alleys of Soho with nothing more than a deterrent of a small fine, the film explains what happened after those streets were cleaned up and how the industry changed.

Thought it would be. I think the uncut showing was a one-off and it wasn't on BBC was it?
