Re: What's Your Latest Buy - and From Where?

I bought a copy of The Eiger Sanction, the Collection one that came with the Eastwood magazine, and the damn thing was non-anamorphic, so i went and swapped it for the 2007 Universal R2 dvd, which CLEARLY STATES 'anamorphic' under the ratio, and it's THE SAME FUCKING TRANSFER!!!!! . . Fuck you, Universal! Doesn't anybody check the damn product before you put it out?

When i say 'same transfer' it is THE SAME content, menu screens and extras, which AREN'T LISTED on the box, so is it an authoring error? More to the point, is there actually a decent anamorphic R2 print of The Eiger Sanction available?

Really annoyed. Four bloody quid that was.

I think they're all non-anamorphic at the moment. I would have thought films with Clint in would deserve better treatment.

they don't care do they? shame. i'm sure people do work at Universal that care about 'fans', but probably not as much more than a demographic.

I Have to agree their treatment of Hitchcock (as in the 14 film boxset) the quality varies & why (When better masters are available from the US, I mean they are the same company) when the US get anamorphic transfers all the way apart from a few?????

Re: What's Your Latest Buy - and From Where?

I Got My Region 1 Blu of Showgirls today which i hasten to add is region locked, I wonder why it is locked????? As MGM are normally Region free is it because of the NC-17 rating perhaps????? anyway this looks absolutely stunning in full 2.35:1 possibly the best the film has ever looked or sounded
