The Killing of Satan (Efren C. Piñon, 1974)

For anyone who is interested, DVD Pacific have The Killing of Satan on pre-order for £4.76, released by a company called Televista. This has been one I've wanted to see for a while. Anyone already seen this who can give their opinion?

Televisa are a well known booleg company. Avoid. I have the old Dutch video release.

I wouldn't have thought a big company like dvdpacifc, would use bootleggers...just go's to show.

Basicallly anybody can make up DVDs from old VHS taps. All they then need to do is get a distribution deal, as Jef Films and Televista have done. Then all the stores will stock them - they don't ask distrutors to prove they own the rights to the films they release.

Since it was cheap I went ahead and ordered this one a while back. Quite an entertaining (and bizarre) film that is well worth a look.

And the quality? How'd it live up to your expectations as a movie?

Quality was ok for the price. Taken from a VHS source, but did the job for me (and it kind of suited this cheapo production). As a film, once the story really gets going it is good fun. Lots of crummy little optical effects going on; cheesy jump cuts; naked women in a cage; a snake tied up in a knot; a goofy devil with a plastic pitchfork; and some fun gore (inc. a man getting his mouth ripped off).
