Noooooooooooo!!! This is awful. The only good thing that can come from this would be a Freddie Francis boxset.
Oh man, that's such a shame. Thanks, Freddie. Rip.
Rest in peace Freddie. Thanks for the movies, they were great.

The guy was a legend.
Who will ever forget all those classics Francis directed for Hammer, Amicus, Tyburn, etc.
A truly legendary horror filmmaker,
R.I.P Freddie and thanks for so many wonderful films.
Cinematography was always his first love but I don't think he realised just how great a director he was. He made some of the best British horror films ever. R.I.P. Freddie and Thank You.
Don't forget he won two Academy Awards for his work...
Best Cinematography - Glory (1989)
Best Cinematography (Black & White) - Sons and Lovers (1960)
He should have won one for the Elephant Man as well, brilliant work!
How about The Straight Story?
I never got around to seeing the Straight Story but I am sure the cinematography was great!
He was involved in some of my favourite films.Alot of them better regarded in hindsight,it seems.Another legend of film gone.
(When will that damm film from 1969 be on DVD.)
This is very sad news.
A great director who has left us a legacy of wonderful movies.

Cheers Freddie - fangs for the memories [+ the other stuff].
I'm looking at a Francis style triple bill for later [Dr. Terror's House of Horrors/Dracula Has Risen from the Grave/The Elephant man or maybe even Paranoiac as I haven't even got round to watching that yet!] .

Another top director who has left us. RIP.
Very sad news,he directed two of my favourite British horror films - The Creeping Flesh and Tales from the Crypt.RIP Freddie![]()
Yes, they were two great films that would be ideal to include in a Freddie Francis Box Set as suggested by dracucarr, earlier. Probably not to be though.![]()
With so many of his films at different studios a definitive boxset will probably never happen unfortunately. Paramount do have 3 that they could release though:
The Skull (1965)
The Psychopath (1966)
The Deadly Bees (1967)
With Warner releasing Trog hopefully it will be the start of a good year for Freddie Francis fans (hopefully we will get a decent Craze (1974) from them sometime soon). What's with the Tyburn films aswell? There's none out on DVD. Also, who has the rights to Son of Dracula (1974)?
Dont forget The Innocents for some impressive cinematography.
A sad day for Genre Cinema Indeed.
