    Arrow Minder (2008)

    Not a joke this.

A new Minder 6-part series will begin shooting next month and air later in the year.

And guess who they want for the George Cole part?

The new Arthur Daley could be Bradley Walsh from Coronation Street.

Who would you cast as in the roles of Arthur Daley and the minder?

Ohhh this is a hard one, I'm a big fan of Minder, to be honest I don't own any on DVD as I have been waiting for this
Anyway George Cole for me is Arthur Daley....end of. But if I really did have to pick someone then maybe it would be fun for Dennis Waterman to actually play Arthur, be a good twist for us veterans (but would we be able to cope).

That all said, Bradley Walsh could just pull this off.

Give it up and let Minder remain a treasured memory instead of trying to ponce off its memory. Nobody could replace George Cole in the part, it was a nice development of his Flash Harry chracter in the St Trinians films and it was such a hit because it caught the Thatcherite spiv/entrepeneur spirit of the times.

I think it's a shame when people/ companies try to recreate a series such as Minder. It can't (in my eyes) be improved upon. The original series covered everything it could have, and I can't see how anyone else can be put in the part of Arthur. The part completely belonged to George Cole.

Ah well. I guess someone can see ££££.

    Re: Minder (2008)

I heard about this as well, the new Minder.
Bradley Walsh apparently filmed a pilot for a chat show for Itv.
It was supposidly that bad that it may never happen.
They are maybe scratching their heads to find vehicles for him.
Nothing against him,I think he's mildly entertaining.Jack of all, master of none it seems.
Who could play the new minder?
Probably Walsh, but it will never be as good.
The series was not the same when Dennis Waterman left and Wendy Turner's husband turned up as George Cole's nephew.(Can't think of his name at the moment,Gary somebody.)

Ray Winstone would make a great Minder-but he is too intense for the role. I agree Waterman as daley would be brilliant.

How about Graham Norton and Paul o grady?!!!!

No more Minder. Is done. Would it have been so difficult to come up with another, similar, framing device - and brand the show on its own?

    Pathetic really.

Taking away the actual Minder element, there was a show a few years back called STAN THE MAN about a crafty geezer (pat.pending), that died on it's ****, but was a nice bit of retro entertainment. Not groundbreaking, but perfect beer entertainment.

They remake classic films and balls them up-why not TV now?

Minder was an absolute classic and George Cole could never be bettered as Arthur Daley. No disrespect to Bradley Walsh as i have no problem with him.

Never have the words "Oh my Gawd!" been so funny!

What's everybody's favourite Minder episodes? Imo there's no such thing as a bad effort from TV's original ducker and diver.

    Re: Minder (2008)

I'm still trying to figure how the year of production is 2008 if the sghow is being filmed now for broadcast later this year. That would make it Minder (2007), would it not...?

As for who would play Terry/Minder, that could be a tough act to follow after Dennis Waterman. I do quite like the idea of Ray Winstone though. Saying all that, I agree that Minder is best left alone, there's really no need for this.

    I'd vote Vinny Jones.

If Dennis Waterman was to appear in this new series would that mean he'd have to sing the theme tune?

    Re: Minder (2008)

Seeing the bit in your post above Strozek about there never being a bad Minder episode (you said it differently but I assume that's what you meant) made me think of what I've thought about Minder overall. I haven't seen every episode and I don't think I saw Dennis Waterman's last episodes, but I'd like to say that I much preferred the Arthur and Terry years compared to when Arthur's nephew (I think he was his nephew. He wouldn't have been his cousin because of the age difference between the two) was in the show. Plus the first theme tune and title sequence was way better than the different version of the theme tune. The new title sequence was good though.

Which episode is the best.....thats a hard one. It's so long since I have watched Minder that its hard to remember exact episodes for me. Thats why I am so looking forward to the boxset being released.
I do think the earlier ones were my favourites.

Some new repackaged DVD boxsets of Minder are being released. In one magazine I've bought in the past week or two they have the cover for the series 3 boxset, stating that series 4 is also available now.

I think Peter Childs passed away soon after filming "An Officer And A Car Salesman". Please someone correct me if I'm wrong though!

Because i hadn't seen Peter Childs in anything after or apart from Minder i do admit i had a sneaky suspicion that he was no longer with us. Thanks for the reply.

I recall once hearing on TV that Glynn Edwards was dead although i'm sure he's alive and one popular DVD magazine still in publication once claimed that George Cole had passed away! And this was before his appearance in an episode of Heartbeat!

The great Patrick Malahide is still going though and seems to have found a degree of fame in America in recent years.

Dennis Waterman also has a new lease of acting life thanks to Little Britain but i wonder what Gary Webster does to pay the rent nowadays?

I thought I saw Gary Webster in "The Bill" recently? I could be wrong though.

100% agree about Patrick Malahide. His performance as Chisholm was just classic.
