Die Hard 4.0 / Live Free or Die Hard (Len Wiseman, 2007)

Seems that John McClane is returning for a fourth adventure. Surely Bruce is getting a bit old for this s....

Let's see... alien ressurection, superman IV, jaws the revenge, sudden impact... it dosen't bode well for live free or die hard does it? Hopefully the fourth mad max film will never get off the ground!

Don't forget the horror that was Lethal Weapon 4. Hopefully they'll be able to find a stunt man that looks like Bruce Willis, unlike Gibson's stand in. At least he can actually act (I still like Death Becomes Her) and two decent performances from him recently, 16 Blocks and Sin City. Action stars should really retire from that sort of thing at 50, Ahnholdt looked positively ancient in Terminator 3. Len Wiseman to direct? His career seems solely based on his missus in PVC. Truly lousy title as well. I wonder who the obligatory Brit villain will be?

Mel Gibson is not proving popular in the US at the moment, so I wouldn't expect to see him for a while!

I don't know...From the other "Part 4" contenders, I wouldn't consider "Sudden Impact" a bad entry in the Dirty Harry franchise, actually my favourite part after the original. Lethal Weapon 4 and Death Wish 4 are both way better than their preceeding parts Nr. 3 and when we get to horror, number 4 went quite well for Halloween, Friday, the 13th and even A Nightmare on Elm Street, considering what came before (and after).
Ah well...Bruce Willis won me back with his excellent performance in "16 Blocks"...If he follows the road of gracefully aging action stars like Clint Eastwood, this could turn out to be quite interesting.

Trailer http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/livefreeordiehard.html Doesn't look bad but will it have the feel of the other three films or be just another action film?

Not jumping the bandwagon, but I agree. Sudden Impact is one of my favourites in the Dirty Harry series.

Death Wish 4 was a decent entry in the series. Halloween 4 is one of my favourite sequels and The Final Chapter (aka Friday the 13th Part 4) is one of the better F13th sequels.

I'm hoping Live Free or Die Hard (agree about the title not being very good) does well. I really liked the first two, but the third one with Samuel L Jackson and Jeremy Irons I wasn't fond of.

The synopsis for this one looks a bit..... weak: "When a criminal plot is in place to take down the entire computer and technological structure that supports the economy of the United States (and the world), it's up to a decidedly "old school" hero, police detective John McClane (Willis), to take down the conspiracy, aided by a young hacker (Long)."

But I suppose once things start blowing up, and the guns begin shooting, it'll all be good. Love these films, so it's a no brainer.

I watched Die Hard again on Christmas Eve. They cannot make the 4th film a PG-13. It would ruin the character of John McClane. He likes to say the 'F' word a lot and the action is violent. This had better be an R rated film.

Still looking forward to it though

Just watched the trailer for this on Wossie. Now known as Die Hard 4.0 (? - is the dvd release gonna be 4.1 then?). Lots of CGI action including a car crashing into a helicopter mid-air, it looked a bit like the first Fantastic Four movie. Oh yeah the whitehouse gets blown up too!

It looked as though it were some game tie-in tbh.

I saw the trailer (it could have been a second trailer with more footage) for the first time at the end of Film 2007 a few Mondays ago. Pretty good although at the moment I'm thinking McClane's young sidekick isn't very believable.

Would much prefer Unbreakable 2 or Last Boy Scout 2, at this end (as if.)

The thought of a CGI-infested, PG-rated Die Hard chills me to the bone. I'm a Bruce-liker and he deserves more.

I must admit, the rating thing doesn't bother me too much. We all know there'll be an uncut/unrated DVD - and since that's the most likely way i'l see this film, there's no loss for me. PG13 today has a lot more in it than a PG13 of yesteryear - and the trailer still looks smokin'.

This was shot as a pg-13, so there wont be an 'r' or 'unrated' dvd.
If I understand what i read in some mag; it was EDIT actually i can't remember who said it or when, pretty sure it was Bruce Willis saying it was shot without swearing and that, for which he held reservations.

    I wouldn't count on that!
How many unrated versions have you seen where there's nothing more than dialogue added...and not the salty kind neither!

This is just further evidence that we are desecnding into some kind of family-orientated societal nightmare. Personally, I despise the whole notion of the perfect nuclear family and the hypocritical classical vision of the wholesome family. Load of bollocks if you ask me.
