FILMS THAT YOU ARE BEGINNING TO TAKE TO AND MAY BE WATCHING IN 10 YEARS TIME AS CLASSICS?

I'll wager a few:-

Master and Commander, Far Side of the World.
~wish I'd seen this at the cinema where the cannon fire was incredible over the six [at least] speakers according to a friend who went to see it. Solid historical narrative based on the popular books about Jack Aubrey, felt like it was about something for a change and culturally relevant, if you're a Brit at least. Good to see our incredible naval history done well on the silver screen.

In Bruges.
Smart, theologically complex, deftly dressed and all wrapped up in a 'done to death' hitman style genre film. Perhaps the hitman taking out his partner wasn't a cliche, but the general genre is as we know. As much as I like Hitman films, it's been well-trodden, and trampled down... but here in In Bruges the take, approach, angle... revives it, and it's a damn good film, funny as heck as well. And the revolt against political corectness had me at "a film about midgets"

Grosse Pointe Blank
Hitmen again, this may be fading with me, very impressed with it initially, script is over-smart on dialogue, violence at the end ruins the feel, how can we keep liking this guy, but great 80s soundtrack, and gags, and was once described as 'The Graduate for the X Generation'.

Gallipoli
This should be in the other section, I fear, superb film, but maybe it doesn't quite have the status, yet, in my mind to place it in the other thread...

This is a really difficult question, I know, I know, it may require 500 page reports, a panel of experts, even going off into the wilderness and spending hours and even days alone surviving on only berries and chewing gum, but eventually we have to decide....

Which is the best?

Thinking recently about the phenom of the TOP TEN LIST, it's a bit daft, a bit an internet thing, pop-cultury nonsense, but, if you had to, absolutely had to and the prize was a night with dirtiest twins you can imagine, what would that list include?

Stop thinking about the twins, and concentrate now, I know you're still one sentence back!

The thing that strikes me is some of my favourite films are on the list, but they've dropped down, overfamiliarity, who knows?

So HEAT is off the list, was a big fan of Heat in 1990s, and I guess I still am, in a way....

I can't fill this up easily so may have to have a thead that gets amended, added-to over time.

2 films for starters....

Here goes:-
