It will be screened on Channel-4 on Sunday night at 10:00pm - 11:55pm.

The question is - will this be a fully UNCUT version?

The BBFC allowed the film to be uncut with an "18" certificate but the distributor was unhappy and wanted a "15" and pre-cut the film. Ironically, the resultant DVD ended up receiving an "18" due to the strong language on the audio tracks.

I think the only complete version is the Dutch release. My Korean edition has all the nudity "fogged" out!

EDIT - nevermind, if it was pre-cut, the cuts wouldn't show on the BBFC site anyway. So, any idea what was actually cut?

No, the BBFC never cut the film. They agreed to allow it out as an UNCUT "18" but Pathe pre-cut it to get a "15". However, they still ended up with an "18" for language! :D

Sadly, this censored version is the one available in the UK and the USA.

What's cut?

A full-frontal nude scene with Keira Knightley.

The cuts were applied to the scenes where heads are being smashed to floors and brain material seeps out. Much of the blood-letting has been reduced, the sight of hands caressing Keira's breast and another one rummaging in her crotch have been shortened or kept out of frame, the vomiting scene has also been truncated drastically.

I spoke to the chap who did the SFX for the film and he said that director Sam Hamm wanted a perfect shot of the puking and poor Keira ended up doing the scene so many times that she was really vomiting in some of the takes. In the uncut version you see bits of her stomach lining being coughed out onto the floor.

All of this disturbing stuff was removed from the current edition of the film.

However, who knows, Channel-4 might screen it Uncut tonight?

Incidentally, the film was clearly the '15' rated cinema/dvd version. [the dvd has an '18' cert due to its special features BTW].

Incidentally, it is now illegal to own this film and American Beauty due to the new child pornagraphy laws. (Knightley was only 15 when her topless scene was filmed, 16 when the film was released). Not that anyone is likely to be arrested as I have seen both still being sold on the high street.

There are plenty of topless scenes with much younger children in plenty of movies, but as long as it's not sexual the BBFC have no problem with it. Example - A Ma Souer has a topless scene of the younger sister which is intact on the DVD, but the rape scene was cut because it was more gratuitous.
