can some one please let me know if AB R1 discs wiil play on my R2 machine?. My mate tells me they have no region code on them and no signs of one on the packaging. is this correct ?

R1 disks will not play on an R2 machine but I suspect you just mean disks from ABUS which could very well be region free. This would vary from disk to disk. You need to check the disk description on their website www.anchorbayentertainment.com and if it is region coded, it should say so there.

But be warned - the info at ABUS isn't always correct, and before I went multi-region I was caught out a few times.

If there's anything you're not sure of, post a request for information. I've pretty much tried and tested most the AB US discs so I pretty much know the region status of most of their discs.

Hi Culkin,

Go to my profile below and search all my posts. On the second page there should be a post titled 'Region 0 Anchor Bay U.S. Discs'. If you read this a few of us put up a big list of all AbUS titles and what region they are.
