Anyone remember Salvage 1? I was 9, going on 10, when this first showed on ITV. It was about a scrap merchant who dreamed of building a spaceship and going to the moon to get all the scrap left over by NASA's space programme, which he ended up doing in the pilot. I seem to remember the episodes were really outlandish and featured aliens and robots. To my knowledge, they only showed the series once on British TV.

Yes I remember it-Andy Griffith as the scrap merchant. In the pilot (I think) they blast off and encounter bigfoot. But I cant remember much more than that.

Yes, I remember this! Didn't they launch it from a scrapyard or something? I recall, around the same time, a series in which UFOs appeared and cars stopped working. I can't remember what it was called. Something like Project UFO?
I also remember stopping up late to watch something called "Into Infinity" which never really went anywhere and ended up with a spaceship falling into a black hole! And then there was Artemis 81 with Sting, which baffled me so much I went to bed early and never bothered watching the VHS.
I remember being a teenager and being engrossed with an odd black and white SF film that featured two blokes wandering around a weird landscape... It was Russian. Now one of my favourite ever films... (Stalker.)

Project BlueBook was another one(or is that project ufo?). 2 guys who went around investigating ufo cases-very much a prototype for the X files.

The show was called Project UFO and ran for 2 series from 1978 - 79. I watched it when it was on and it seemed a quirky little series, definitely a forerunner for The X-Files. It was based on Project Bluebook that the American military had running.
