Anyone else getting this?
When I log on to the forum I hit the 'New Posts' button and read the new posts. Then I'll go off to another site, browse the web etc When I come back on here and hit 'New Posts' some of the threads I'd already read are now once again flagged as 'New' even though there has been no new posts since I last read the thread.
Any idea why it does this?
All I can think is perhaps Marc has edited the thread since I last looked and this is why it's showing up as containing new content?

Jonny,
I've just changed the way new posts are flagged on the forum. It's down to the way cookies are stored.
This option controls how threads and forums are marked as read.
Inactivity/Cookie Based
Database (no automatic forum marking)
Database (automatic forum marking) - this is the new setting.
The first time you set this all posts will show up as unread because the database marking is new. Once you mark the forums as read everything will work fine.

That's much better, cheers. :)

I just posted something on the MINDER thread and it didn't come up as a new post when I refreshed.
I wonder if this one will do the same?

Perhaps it didn't show up for you because you posted it and thus had read it, therefore it wasn't a new post to you?

I beginning to feel your pain a little, Jonny.
My NEW POSTS link is getting a bit unwieldy now.
When I click it I get three new threads and 3 PAGES of "The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts."
Seems a bit broken to me - it was a a tad easier when it just showed the new threads.

It's working OK, it's just that after Marc altered the settings it had to show everything as unread. Best thing to do is to mark everything as 'read' and then it'll all be back to normal.
I think.

Well - I did the "mark all forums read" thing.
But I just had this same issue... created a new thread but it refuses to show in the NEW POSTS link....

On a similar note, since Sunday, the only way for me to stop posts being flagged up as unread is to click the 'mark forums read' tab - up until then its always been the case that once they've been read, they've stayed read. Now, if I dont mark everything as being read then it'll continue telling me I havent read them ad infinitum...

I also have a bunch of threads showing as unread that are not.

Looks like you now have to do the "mark all forums read" thing every now and again, otherwise the "The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts" section just gets longer and longer...... Never noticed that before.
For those that don't know how to do that......
Click on NEW POSTS. There is a menu just above the posts, and one of the options is QUICK LINKS. The second option there is "Mark Forums Read".
