Another new review from me over at my website The Celluloid Tomb. Up for review today is a bona fide eighties horror classic in the shape of Creepshow, the first and only collaboration between director George A. Romero and writer Stephen King.
Anyone who wishes to read my review can do so by clicking here (http://jacksmoviepage.piczo.com/creepshow?cr=5&linkvar=000044).
In case you can't tell from my review Creepshow really is a huge personal favourite which I come to love more and more on each viewing. Crafted with obvious love for the old E.C. horror comics, Creepshow delivers a hugely enjoyable mixture of scares and playfully macabre black humour across its five short tales.
Highly recommended! :)
As always any comments or feedback on this review will be more than welcome.

Great review of a really fun film, I love the Stephen King and the segment which features the insects the most, great dvd too.
The 2nd one is a guilty pleasure as well, though it doesn't compare to the original obviously :)

Glad you enjoyed my review Billy. As you probably gathered from my review Something To Tide You Over and The Crate are my personal favourite segments, while The Lonesome Death Of Jordy Verrill and They'e Creeping Up On You were my least, although to be honest I love all five stories here to an extent. All of them have their charm.
Creepshow 2 was OK but not anything I would write home about and Tales From The Darkside: The Movie (looked upon by some as the unofficial second sequel) is a fun, underrated film.
I have not seen the Creepshow 3 which came out quitely a few years back, but from what I've heard it's not meant to be much cop. Has anyone on here seen it? Any thoughts, etc?

Great review Jack. This film will always have a special place in my heart, as well as being an excellent film it is also the first horror film I saw at the cinema. I remember being so chuffed about actually getting a ticket, I was only 13 and didn't look old enough to pass for 14 (it was an AA film at the time) so when I got the ticket and took my place in the auditorium I was so, so happy.
Since then every time I watch it I'm transported back to the balcony of the Zetland cinema in Richmond over 25 years ago... Magic!

Thanks for the kind words Jonny. What an unforgettable introduction to the horror genre that must have been. Creepshow is a film I would love to see in the cinema, I wager its stylised comic book visuals would look stunning on the big screen and put those seen in most modern Hollywood blockbusters to shame.
Come to think of it Creepshow must have been amongst the first batch of horror films I ever saw on video as a teenager (The People Under The Stairs, Halloween III: Season Of The Witch, Leprechaun (really, don't laugh!), Tales From the Darkside: The Movie, Day Of The Dead, Friday The 13th Part 2, Evil Dead II, Army Of Darkness and the BBFC censored versions of Dawn Of The Dead and Zombie Flesh Eaters were the first horror tapes I ever bought/rented). To say Romero's film made a tremendous impression upon me would be an understatement.

Definitely a good review for a thoroughly entertaining film. I enjoy every episode, but my firm favourite is They're Creeping Up On You - it's one of the best things Romero has done imo. I just love its odd-ball character!
Creepshow 2 is kinda bad/good, a true guilty pleasure...
Still, you've just gotta love The Hitchhicker:
"Thanks for the ride lady!!!!"

"Thanks for the ride lady!!!!"
That line had me cracking up when I first herd it back in the day.:D

Creepshow 2 makes for perfectly acceptable viewing, however for me it was really a sequel in name only, the affection for and stylistic encapsulation of the E.C. comic style which characterised Romero's original film is nowhere to be found.
For what it's worth I agree The Hitchhiker is certainly the best of the three tales on offer.

Yes, but The Raft does at least threaten superiority with this stunning line of dialogue:
"Ooooh, mucho ecological, Poncho! Mucho ecological!"
It never fails to crack me up!
As far as Creepshow 3 is concerned, I've simply not bothered with it. Although it is helmed by Ana Clavell, the talent who is responsible for directing Day Of The Dead 2, as well as 3 vintage episodes of Compromising Situations... so maybe I'm just being downright narrow minded.
(Sorry - having a sarcastic ol' afternoon!)
Count me in as another Creepshow fan,the double disc set from Universal is a cracker too.I'll probably sit down to watch this again on Halloween night in a double bill with Halloween III:Season of the Witch.
