Yeah, I've often wondered how the rock and roll lifestyle and the stamina needed to play can be compatible. Especially when you hear someone like Gene Hoglan from Death and the terrifying speeds he can achieve.

There's this myth that drumming is the easy option. When I was in a band, I'd sometimeshave a quick go and soon realise that even if you think you've got a reasonable sense of rhythm, drumming definitely isn't as easy as it may appear.

As an ex-drummer myself (at one time in a band which covered Sepultura songs!) I would say it's a matter of equivalency - ie the stamina needed to exert so much energy of someone full of smoke, booze and chips!:D

When I had a band all those moons ago, we had a drummer called Andy who could play drums seriously fast. I'm talking Napalm Death speed here, not Sepultura. We just used to stand and stare at him and then ask how we were supposed to keep up with him. Show off!

Remember seeing rush at glasgows secc back in 1991,on the roll the bones tour,when it came to neal pearts drum solo,my jaw hit the floor.Its the only time i can honestly say,when going to a concert,and the obligatory solo spots come on,that it most certainly didnt bore me.This guy was all over the kit.Bloody amazing stuff!

Not a big fan of the band,but i have to mention dave lombardo who drummed with slayer.Another tour de force drummer.

I've never even attempted to play a drum kit! I've always usually been on bass duties - again, many think bass is the easy option. Okay then, you try it! ;)

Looks like when Guitar Hero 4 comes out it will be the new equivalent of of the Wi Fit
