Boy, it's certainly taken me some time to get around to watching this one. After every Naziploitation film I watch I can be heard saying: "Well, I won't be buying any more of these!" - because few ever truly deliver on anything but being a shelf-filler (albeit an essential one) for the collection. But then again, I have two more on order....
So I finally watched Salon Kitty, with now runs for 2 hours and 13 minutes, an achievement on its own for such a title!
And you know, as those who have seen it are aware, it really is a step above the other video nasty related Naziploitation films. This one is shot beautifully at times, some of thr sets are amazing... and as for the costumes. These aren't concerns for the other Naziploitation films I've seen, those revel in cheap FX and poor acting. Not so here - Salon Kitty actually has a decent plot, some decent actors, and a script!
There are some grotesque moments here, but not real atrocities to speak of (not in the sense of the other films of this type).
I suspect this one stands alone in Naziploitation films, but if not, I'd like to hear about others that mine the well but have some artistry involved.
