I know this is something of a favorite of The Wilson Bros, who no doubt by now have the R1 DVD with the film in 2.35:1 (although the framing is clearly slightly out - in the opening credit sequence at least, with at everything shifted to the right, and one credit being cut off....)

Odd film this, all the look and feel of an Italian exploitation film, but with real class. As a Vietnam vibe riffing off Deer Hunter it's kind of fun - and there are actually a couple moments that are quite affecting.

It clearly had a half-decent budget - at least in explosives. You've got David Warbeck, and Tisa Farrow. And you have a rather nice ending.

I enjoyed it actually. There's an interview with the Director on the disc, I might get to that tomorrow. Decent.

I have the UK Vipco release. It's a fun film, can't write more than that, as it's not exactly taxing on the brain. But I like it. Recommendation enough.

Yes I enjoyed it, good gory action with great production values for a film of its type. David Warbeck is as charismatic and engaging as ever and Tisa Farrow is always nice to look at.

Inessential but good fun. Thumbs up from me.

Probably Margheriti's best war effort, although the Lewis Collins trilogy (Codename Wildgeese, Commando Leopard, The Commander) are also worth a look... There is some entertaining miniature/model work in these... especially Leopard.

According to Erwin C. Dietrich, Commando Leopard is apparently the highest budget Swiss film ever at 15 million in Swiss Francs...

I saw it on the cinema around 1983 and the supporting film was a well-endowed flick by the name of Close Encounters Of A Handyman.

I have real affection for this film as it's the only film I can remember my dad renting out of the video shop more than once. I used to love the pre cert cover, pity neither of the released disc's feature it. A real comfort film for me if you know what I mean? Must watch it agian soon. :)

I'm looking forward to pick up the AWE release later this year.
Since I haven't seen many Italian 80's B-actioners so far, I'm really curious about this one.
Oddly enough, the hard hitting success of "Rambo" didn't prompt many likeminded Italo rip-offs to reemerge on DVD...so far.:o

I have the Vipco disc of this, hugely enjoyable fun.

I'd like to see a disc of the similarly themed "Tiger Joe", which was also quite good fun.

Wasn't so keen on "Tornado" however, very poor. Weak storyline, dull performances, didn't recognise anyone in it, plus a downbeat ending.

The thing that sticks out most for me was that Tisa Farrow looks and performs so much better in this than in Zombi 2, where she looks and acts as if she's had 100 valium.

I noticed recently that the 23rd century dvd of LH is fully uncut with a run time of 92 min 27 sec compared with the Vipco release that runs for 91 min 51sec. The reason for this is because the 23 dvd contains the missing part of the cave scene 37min when Warbeck asks 'who's in charge here?' . Does any one know if this scene is on the R1 disc?

23rd century are pretty much a bootleg operation.

The Dark Sky release is also uncut

[QUOTE=MarcMorris;249908]23rd century are pretty much a bootleg operation.

I know that! But they did put out some interesting discs though.
