Gave this one a watch last night. Didnt really expect much of it going in, to be honest, so I wasnt disappointed when it turned out to be probably the most pointless film I've ever seen.

I understand this is based on a book, so maybe that can explain things a little better. It isnt complicated - just pointless. Absolutely nothing is explained or seems to have any meaning. Why can these people teleport to anywhere at any point? Why are they being hunted down? Why do they (apparently) 'all turn bad eventually?' How is that regular people can also teleport when they're holding hands with a jumper? Why does Samuel L Jackson have that ludicrous hairstyle? And whats the point to any of it?

If you're considering watching this - I wouldnt waste an hour and a half of my time on it. Despite the big budget it doesnt even look that good - the special effects are very basic and Hayden Christensen is the lead, which pretty much guarantees the acting wont be oscar worthy. In truth, its not even a switch off your brain and enjoy movie - its not even that good.

And did I mention it was pointless?

Trouble is that Jamie Bell's 'Griffin' is a much more interesting character than the main guy - plus it seemed more like a pilot for TV show than a film.

This is a classic example of films being constructed with sequels in mind, effectively resulting in a very unsatisfying half-a-movie.

It was mildly diverting for most of its short running time but I couldn’t believe it when the film ended, there was no resolution (satisfying or otherwise), the story and all the characters were just abruptly abandoned clearly in anticipation of a sequel or two. No questions were answered - no reward for the viewer at all.

If I had paid to see this I’d not be pleased at all.

I did pay to see it - luckily it was as the first part of a 'double bill' trip to the cinema and There Will Be Blood wiped all bad feelings away within about a second.

I can't even tell you how BAD this film was. it was like a TV show promo. I was bored out of my mind by an idea so obviously flawed. I mean, this was brain dead. I keopt hoping it would get better, and every juncture it got WORSE.

STAY AWAY!

I agree with Vaughan, this was really really bad.
Even worse than the blatant Apocalypto rip-off 10,000 B.C.
