aka La Venganza de la Momia
Said to be Paul Naschy's grisly, gothic take on the famous "mummy on the ranpage" formula popularised by Universal and Hammer, this is now the one Naschy film above all others that I am eager to see. A shame as it seems to be as rare as hens teeth.
Hopefully BCI will add it to their ever-expanding library of Naschy titles one day...

It's not that rare - it came out on Unicorn Video, an American label, back in the mid 1980s. I have it here - if you want a copy let me know.

It's also pretty repetitive and boring. Not one of Naschy's best.

So you don't rate it then SW? For me just the concept of a Paul Naschy mummy picture has me salivating.
Perhaps I'm just strange? ;)

It has plenty of head crushing, mummy rampaging action going on but as I mentioned, it all gets a bit repetitive and boring after a while. I'd still buy it if BCI released a spanky new print but as naschy flicks go, it doesn't rate very highly. All of us Naschy fans are a little bit strange Jack.

Well for me even a mediocre mummy film is something to savor and so are mediocre Paul Naschy films.
So I think it will still be worth my while to track down.
When I catch up with it I will of course do a full review of the film.

It's a hard film to see in a decent presentation.
Sadly that Unicorn tape is a TV print ( and the covered version taboot ).
I think this is one of the more original mummy flicks and one of Naschy's better efforts. There is a widescreen Spanish version about which restores some violence and gore to a couple scenes, which helps.
A major question on this one whether or not an uncovered 'nude' version was made with alternate shots. This was done for many Naschy films, but no one has a copy an uncovered MUMMY. It may well be in someone's vault somewhere, Victory Films ( who provided BCI / DEIMOS with their source elemnets ) does not have rights to MUMMYS REVENGE.
It's something of a holy grail for Naschy maniacs....maybe someday?

FURY OF THE WOLFMAN too and that is getting a 16:9 release from Divisa in Spain (it'll likely be the covered version).
