Not sure if this will be you lots' cup of tea but the trailer for "Freddy Vs Jason" is now online.

Click Here for the Official Site (http://www.freddyvsjason.com/)

From what I've heard, it gets back to the high-gore, tongue in cheek roots that made the originals such classics (in my book anyway). I for one, am hoping high for this one...

Considering Jason X was a 15 cert here (cut for an R rating in the states) I seriously doubt we are looking at a return to high-gore action.

Unless New Line are prepared for an unrated release (which they weren’t with Jason X, Nightmare on Elm Street, …Elm Street part 5 etc – all cut in the US) I expect a relatively bloodless affair, or fast cut-aways at the least. Best tone down the embarassingly self-aware comedy too, as Jason X had far far too much of that.

Beyond Reanimator is the only serious attraction for me (as a gorehound) in the near future.

Just as an afterthought 13thman (or anyone else for that matter), do you know of a similar site in the US which details what has been cut from American releases? I had a look at the MPAA site but it's different to the BBFC in that it doesn't tell you at all if a movie has been cut to achieve a certificate.

Yes, unfortunately the MPAA aren't as open as our own scissor-wielding censors. They see their cuts as part of the production process and not as the invasive acts they actually are.

I use dvdcompare.net for some information, imdb.com for general info (both are often mistaken but a good start) and then general searching via google (usually the name of the film then MPAA and/or cut or cuts or uncut). melonfarmers.co.uk is good too but UK centred.

You'll find details of what's cut from the Friday 13th films easily enough but for most films its just reading reviews, interviews with directors etc.

Even though JX was a 15 it was still quite gory.

& don't forget (as one gore-hound to another) HOUSE 1000 CORPSES!! (or at least the unrated dvd when it comes out).

Yeah, I agree Jason X was pretty gory for a '15'.
I loved it, laughed my ass off too. Probably one of the most entertaining of the Fri 13ths so far, though I recently watched the unrated DVD of part 9 and that was a good bit of nonsense too!

I look forward to the Jason/Freddy movie, should be fun (didn't Ronny Yu do 'Bride Of Chucky'?, also stupid but a good laugh).

BTW as to the result... I'm hoping Jason kicks Freddies pansy ass

Like the trailer says...

"Place your bets..."

:D

My money's on Freddy though, as much as I think Jason is a cooler character as he's all power and says F.A, I reckon they'll have Freddy triumphant.

Ding ding...

I was a little bit sceptical about Beyond Re-Animator (didn't really enjoy Bride of ... ) but having seen it at Dead by Dawn I would give it a hearty two thumbs up, well worth waiting for. Hopefully it will get a UK cinema release (I think Mondo Digital list it as direct to video in the states ?). Gorehounds may also like to keep an eye out for the Australian zombie film Undead which was also great fun.

Englund didn't give too much away about who comes out on top, but he did say that they had left the door open for a sequel - so perhaps a draw is on the cards?

Even if both of them were to be reduced to dust and blew away in the wind I’m sure a sequel would follow. The Fridays up to Part VIII at least maintained some kind of pretence to continuity, now each new one starts as if the previous one never happened. Freddy never stayed down long either – there’s always room for a sequel!

Personally I don’t care who wins, so long as everyone in the cast is slaughtered, no survivors.

I for one am looking forward to this. It's just going to be an entertaining 'horror' flick. Plus Freddy is going back to his dark roots, so less of the wisecracks. As long as Kelly Rowland is killed off pretty quick (i hate singers who think they can act, they ruin these old series just look at Halloween: Resurection) i'll be happy.

I've been waiting for this film since 1995. i know people have been waiting for this since 1988 when Friday the 13th 7 was planned to be Freddy vs Jason. the wait is over and it better be good. The trailer looked entertaing but a bit too post modern. Shame they lost that 80s feel. (i will probably get butchered for that last sentance)

Well looking at the pics from the website it looks like they have tried.

There's a few shots of the cabin & big J in front which harks back to the old days.

& Freddy's make up has gone back a few steps as well.

I think it's going to be at least a fun movie, but I think it may just ROCK!!!

(But not as hard as HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES!!!).

For anyone who is interested this film is released in the UK on august 22nd.

Looks like it's gonna be a cracker. Shame about the nu-metal soundtrack though. they should just stick to a creepy score. Every horror film nowadays has dodgy music. I guess i just wanted that 80s feel to this film. Oh well, still looks great.

... as long as it means no rap music. Get enough of that 'gangsta' stuff anytime you see an action film. If it has cars & kung fu, you get the automatic rap soundtrack thats louder and more obnoxious than anything in the movie itself.

Thought one of the lowest points was Busta Rhymes in HALLOWEEN RESURRECTED ... seeing & hearing something like RESIDENT EVIL with its soundtrack was a welcome relief (at least for me).

Checked on the bbfc website and Freddy vs Jason has got an 18 certificate. Could be a case of the films going back to their darker roots.

15th August - UK

So far all previews and early reviews point to FvJ being http://www.anchorbay.co.uk/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif.

From the pics I've seen it does indeed look to be darker & with the current level of Violence in some 15's (take JASON X for example) I think this is going to be a nice slice of the Bloody pie!!

:D
