September sees two new BCI Exploitation Cinema releases
By MarcM at 07/01/2008 - 10:32
Scheduled for a September 16 release date, BCI are set to unleash a further two double bills as part of their Exploitation Cinema label.

First up is a double bill of Javier Aguirre's Cemetery Girls (1972) + Cirio H. Santiago Vampire Hookers (1979).

Cemetery Girls, which stars Paul Naschy, is perhaps better known to fans of European cult cinema as Count Dracula's Great Love (or in Spain as El gran amor del conde Dracula). Rather surprisingly it also had a UK theatrical release as Dracula’s Virgin Lovers and it appeared briefly on UK video under this title on the IFS label in the early 1980s. Sadly Cemetery Girls does not follow on by using BCIs newly created Spanish masters, so this will be sourced from a US print.

The other double bill consists of two Norman J. Warren BritFlix, the Suspiria influenced Terror (1978) + Satan's Slave (1976). This will be well worth picking up in order to get the first widescreen continental version of Satan's Slave.

Odeon Entertainment, August 18 releases
By MarcM at 06/30/2008 - 10:04
Odeon Entertainment continue their UK Something Weird releases with Herschell Gordon Lewis' The Gore-Gore Girls (1970) and The Master Of Gore Collection. Also keep a look out for The Something Weird Collection.

There are more British films on the way too, and Odeon continue with more titles from the Euro London library. There's a welcome re-release for Pete Walker's excellent Cool it Carol! (1970), and some nice little lesser known titles; Francis Searle's Things Happen at Night (1947), Don Chaffey's The Flesh Is Weak (1957) and Lance Comfort's Blind Corner (1963).
